Lion Constantly Asks to Restart

A couple of times an hour, OS Lion asks "Are you sure you want to quit all applications and log out now?" It then has a 60 second countdown. i.e. if you do nothing you will be automatically logged out in X seconds.

How do I fix this? The message comes up whether I am in the middle of using the computer or not. I already tried restarting Lion - but the problem persists.
