deleting individual gmail messages
Is it possible to delete individual messages, not whole conversations on ipad gmail? I can do this on my G4, but could not find a way on an ipad.
Thanks, Brian in Atlanta |

At least from the full web interface you can do this.
Select message thread. View the message you want to delete. Select the message drop down menu (labeled Reply or Reply All). Select "Delete this message". I'm not sure if the same functionality is available through the custom iPad interface. What method are you using to access your mail? |

Fracai,
Thanks for the reply. Are you sure? The reason I ask is that I do not have an ipad to try your approach and because it sounds like you didn't either when you responded. Brian |

I do have one, but not handy at the moment, nor when I posted.
I'll check in a few hours and get back to you. |

I'm subscribed to my Gmail account on my iPad using Mail. Mail does not display conversations, only individual emails. I have "Organize by thread" turned off in Settings.

The Gmail web interface for iPad doesn't support deleting individual messages.
The Mail app, as mentioned by mclbruce, does. You could also bring up the full web interface in Safari. |

How do you do that? I thought Safari was Safari on the iPad. Is there a trick to get the full Safari? Or is that not what you meant? Thx, Brian |

Safari is Safari, but Google presents optimized interfaces for iOS devices.
At the bottom of the page is a link to the "Desktop" version. |

Alternatively you can put off the conversion view in the gmail settings. In this way each email will appear as new one and not as in conversion view. hence you can delete the email you dont want to keep.

That works in the iOS Mail application, not the web interface. |

No, I meant that there isn't a way to disable conversation view, but it turns out that Google added this in September. Though I'm not sure that this option is available for the mobile interfaces and the full web interface already has a way to delete individual messages.

Hi Fracai,
I am unable to find the option to delete individual email in the web interface. I tried the method you mentioned in the begining of this thread but it deleted the full conversion not the selected email. I think I might have done it wrong

Is this the menu you're deleting from?
