How to set Address Book <=> Google sync to manual?

Hello,
I've already got my Gmail set up in Thunderbird as IMAP, which updates in realtime; we're getting Android phones, so I've synced iCal, Thunderbird, and Google Calendar; and now I've synced Address Book with my Google contacts, but my problem with that is, I don't want it syncing every hour.

In fact, I would much rather sync the address book manually, as I don't get many new contacts, and I'd rather not have another daemon running (running a Hackintosh netbook, so I need all the extra memory/processor speed I can get to avoid killing the Atom processor).

I know how to change the interval via the plist editor (~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.google.GoogleContactSyncAgent.plist) or command line, but how do I turn off automatic sync? If I were to change the frequency (say once a week/month/year), I'd edit the "StartInterval" line to a higher number than the default 3600 (seconds). Would changing it to 0 turn off auto-update or keep it updating in real-time?

Thanks in advance!
