iMovie '09: how do I make the titles longer?

I have several issues with the new iMovie, but one in particular is really bugging me: how do I make the titles longer? iMovie '09 only allows me to put in a certain number of characters, and then scrolls down to a new line, but that does not show in the video. I appreciate your help!

I find iMovie very limited in that function. If I want something in particular, I create my titles in Keynote and then export from there as a Quicktime movie, and then import that into iMovie.
