file dates on windows server 2003 volumes

I have had problems for a long time where creation dates on all of my files located on the central Windows 2003 server are set to Jan 1 1904 12.30pm, Date modifieds are corrupted temporarily when first viewed through Office open or save dialogs (to a large and inpossible negative date) and when I view the files in date modified order they are not in the correct order. A file saved today might appear a week ago in the list). Additionally the last modified dates are sometimes changed when I view them without re-saving the files?

I am using an iMac G5 20" running OSX 10.4.11 and using SMB to a windows server 2003. I have the latest upgrades on all software on my computer.

This is not a new problem for me. But cannot find a solution.

I suspect the same problem in the US might show up as 1903 file dates.

It is very frustrating when trying to locate files created on a certain date. Note that if i view the files on a colleagues PC the creation data is fine.

Any thoughts appreciated

Bob J.
