Textedit freezing.

Hi folks. I'm running leopard on a macbook and I recently tried to open a power point page I'd saved as text with it, and I think that's the source of my problem. I say that because when I try to open text edit it beachballs while trying to open the untitled page I saved from powerpoint. When I log into a test account on the computer, textedit works fine. I've tried deleting the plist file from preferences, cleaned caches (before I read that wasn't such a great idea) and I've reinstalled the app from my install disk using Pacify.

Can someone tell me where to delete that file that's hanging it -- or suggest something else? Thanks in advance for any ideas.
