My entire audio all of a sudden locked up this morning. The keys to adjust sound don't work, it shows the volume box but it has the little mute sign underneath, even if its on full. The sound menu thats usually at the top right corner of the screen is gone too, there's just a blank space where it used to be. I tried changing it in system preferences, but it won't let me change anything (it has that gray color for everything in the sound part). Does anybody know how to unlock it??

What computer? What version of OS X?
Can you copy/paste the output of System Profiler > Hardware > Audio (Built-in)? Do you have a red light shining out of your headphone jack? Trevor
