Hello. I have managed to install X-Window, Gimp, AbiWord, and a few other things - mostly using FINK. Although I finally chose to use a different window manager, oroborosx, which allows windows to look and feel more Aqua-like:
http://wrench.et.ic.ac.uk/adrian/sof.../download.html Having done all that, I decided to see if I could install Chinese fonts and localization for X-Window, since I need this for my work and OSX is still quite lacking in this department - their traditional Chinese input methods are awful, and few of the text editors handle Chinese properly, etc. - besides, it is a good way to waste some time ,However, I am not really very knowledgable about UNIX and I don't know how to install software if FINK doesn't do it for me, or I don't have a step-by-step guide. After looking around for a while, and e-mailing some people, I found this OSX installer for Xcin. It is a beta, but I thought I'd try it out. You can download this by going to: http://www.eecs.harvard.edu/~shawn/MacOSX/ And then click-hold on xcin-2.5.2-beta.dmg Choosing "save to disk." More information is available here: http://xcin.linux.org.tw/ (English versions at bottom of Documentation section on the main page). However, the documentation says that some items are necessary before it will work, and I don't know how to install them, or where to get them from. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated! kerim PS: There are also some other FreeBSD ports of Chinese software available here: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/v...ports/chinese/ |
