Must re-authenticate against AD??

I am wondering if this is by design, or something I have configured incorrectly.
Our 10.4.3 clients are part of an active directory domain, along with a samba server that is part of the domain. I can logon with no problem, but when I go to a samba share it ask me to authenticate again.
Is that how it is supposed to work? Shouldnt it pass my existing credentials to that share?
Any help is highly appreciated.
