Idle disconnect - Disconnecting file shares upon inactivity
I am trying to configure the Apple file sharing and Windows file sharing services on OS 10.4.2 to automatically disconnect sharings after 10 minutes of inactivity.
For Windows sharing, I edited /private/etc/smb.conf and under '[globals],' added deadtime = 10 For Apple file sharing, I edited /Library/Preferences/com.apple.applefileserver.plist using Property List Editor as a root user and set these idledisconnectonff - yes idledisconnecttime - 10 I then restarted the computer. However, I do not see any effect of the new settings. The shares are still there after connecting from other computers (as an admin user), and not doing anything for 15-20 minutes. Can anyone help with this? |
