Angry LaCie Firewire Drives and OS 10.1.2???

Just picked up an 80 gig external LaCie Firewire drive at an Apple Store. I bought it from the Apple Store so that I could ensure it would be compatible with the latest version of OS X.

I installed OS X (10.1) from CD and also installed 9.2.1. I was able to upgrade 9.2.1 to 9.2.2 but I'm not able to upgrade 10.1 to either 10.1.1 or to 10.1.2. I've searched LaCie's Web site for driver updates. None available.

Why would the Apple Store be selling these drives if the latest OS X version isn't even being supported by the manufacturer? Ticks me off.

You have to install the installer update and security update before 10.1.1. Have you tried this?

Yes, thanks. I forgot to mention that when I try to install the Installer Update the Firewire drive is grayed out and I get a message telling me it's not necessary for the drive. When I try to install the Security Update I get a message saying some errors occurred during the installation process. Hmm.

I think I'll have to call LaCie. I've been reading other posts here and many have successfully updated to 10.1.2. Maybe I've got a flaky drive?
