Can not open any applications 10.5.1 and 10.5.3

Hello all, Thank you in advance for any help.

I am running a Mac OS X Server 10.5.1 and 10.5.3 PowerPC G5.

I can not launch any applications at all only terminal and finder. I have tried to launch the apps from all possible ways that I know how. Ex: Dock, Terminal with open command, Spotlight shortcut, and from Finder.

The apps will bounce up and down in the dock and then go away and nothing happens.

Also I can not run any commands as root anymore using sudo. It tells me that the password is incorrect. I am wondering if I am losing my session ID or something weird like that but I am not sure.

But can not follow the commands due to the fact that I can not run sudo commands when this happens.

In order to fix the issue I have to reboot the server.

Any help would be great.
