Question Change Short Name

Has anyone tried this "ChangeShortName" command?
Any problems?
I'd like to change the short name for my home folder but those warnings that come with the script scare the begeezus out of me!
Thanks!

Sometimes it's good to be scared. :-)

Opinions vary about how to change the short name, even when doing it "by hand." i haven't seen the automated script yet, or the warnings that come with it. I do know that mistakes in doing this can be very costly.

I assume you're speaking of those page:
http://homepage.mac.com/frakes/MOSXP...tusername.html

That dude has provided a very comprehensive directions (for the layman) to change that shortname in 10.2. He was a good resource for when people asked the question, "How do I change the shortname". Eventually, Apple spit out a doc on how to change it.

I don't know if I trust this guy's app/script to do it for me, I'd rather do it by hand so I can see what I'm doing. But this guy certainly has been a resource for how to do it in the past.

Buyer beware.
