Looking to go Mac and Never Look Back.

I am looking to buy a Mac for the first time. I've never used one before. I wondering which one is the best for gaming. I will be playing Warcraft (wow) and Diablo 3 mainly. I'm looking to spend about 2,000 dollars. Any help you all can be would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know much about this, but figured from the plethora of replies, that an answer would assist. I would go into two or three Apple stores, tell them what you want, and listen to the answers.

I'd definitely suggest skipping anything below 8G Ram (that means no MacBook Air), and i'd look for as much processor speed as I could afford.

Given your budget and what I just said, I'd check out Apple's refurbished store, Craigslist and Ebay after talking with the Apple store employees.

Well you did not specify Macbook Pro, Imac, etc.

There are refreshes do out soon to almost all macs as Intel updated their processors.

That said from what is currently available (These have dedicated Video cards)

Macbook Pro 15 Quad Core Starts @ $1799
Imac 21 or 27 Quad Core Starts @ $1199/$1499
MacPro Starts @ $2499

With each of the above you have options of buying ones with somewhat better CPU and Video Cards from the Default.

Yes go to a store.

Then go back again if you decide to wait for new

Barefeats.com has lots of speed tests

I have those games

I have WoW and Diablo 3 and have played them on an early (2011) Macbook pro so it's already 1 year old. It has a core i7 cpu 2.3ghz and I have purchased and installed 16 gigs of ram from newegg.com, it runs those games flawlessly.

I tend not to run the games on the highest video settings by choice, turning down things that don't matter to me personally (shadows) etc. but I just do this to ensure that I get a smooth framerate.

I believe that if you were to purchase the latest version of the Macbook Pro with a core i7 cpu the games would play just fine for you.

I also have WoW and D3 on my 2011 2.2ghz core i7 for entertainment while traveling. While they don't perform like a purpose built gaming rig, the performance is very acceptable with middle-of-the-road graphics settings.

And yes - the fans do run hard.
