Transfering from Time Machine to new Mac

My iMac G5 17 inch crashed the other day. The logic board failed. I was using Time Machine with that computer.

If I buy a Mac mini, will I be able to transfer most my files from the external HD to the new Mac?

When you turn on the Mac mini it will prompt you to connect the time machine disk at the proper time. I haven't actually done this but it should work just fine.

If you have a problem the alternative is to take the HD out of the G5 iMac, put it in an external drive, and use Apple's Migration Assistant app to pull your info off of the old G5 iMac drive.
