Mail.app and MS Exchange

Guys,
Anyone knows how to make Mail.app accept Exchange ? !

Although the setting has that option, I was unable to set Mail to work with my corp. exchange

yet, my iPhone works like a breez. !!

how long before we get the leopard white ? They claim it will fix it !

Photek 01-29-2009 01:57 PM

exchange works fine with Mail.app... I use it all day every day and have for years..

what problem are you having? and what is your setup (both Mac and PC)

Axxll 01-29-2009 02:43 PM

the problem is its not connecting to the xchange server.

my exchange server is almal.com.kw
I add Mail.almal.com.kw for incoming
smtp.almal.com.kw for outgoing server
for outlook web access , i am not sure what i should add !

do you have a step by step ( what to enter ) in every field in the set up.?

I am on MAC osx 10.5.6

Are you asking how to access your e-mail by your web browser?

Axxll 01-29-2009 03:35 PM

no, I am saying there is a field called web outlook access

Axxll 01-29-2009 03:38 PM

sorry its called:
outlook Web Server.

i followed the guide to the letter, neither the exchange nor the IMAP worked.

the guide is not exactly up todate with my mail version, some of the screen shots are not identical

Axxll 01-29-2009 03:40 PM

Both accounts are failing to go online and to connect to the server.
as soon as i enter " webmail.almal.com.kw" it shows the yellow Fail triangle

Axxll 01-29-2009 03:44 PM

I think the webmail.domainname.com is not correct
my webmail access is https://mail.almal.com/owa

does that mean anything to you ?

Axxll 01-29-2009 04:06 PM

domain\username

Photek 01-29-2009 04:21 PM

what happens if you put that in to your mail settings?

Axxll 01-29-2009 04:23 PM

as a username.?

Axxll 01-29-2009 04:25 PM

didnt work , :(

Axxll 01-29-2009 04:26 PM

error message: the connection to the server"almla.com.kw" on port 143 timed out

Photek 01-29-2009 05:14 PM

First off.... I would check ALL of your login details... nothing you have posted here works!

you can only have 1 Exchange account in Mail... being as your current Exchange account has never worked.... delete it.

now make a new account.

uncheck the 'automatically set up account' check box

Full Name - What your email comes through as to other users
Email Address - your email address
Password - your password for this email account

next screen
Account Type - Exchange
Description - Only you will see this... call it something obvious
incoming mail server - your incoming mail server (check it on your iPhone)
user name - this may be the bit BEFORE the @ in your email address... it may be your WHOLE email address.. try it and see (or check it on your iPhone)
Password - your password
OWAS - as your network admin... the link you posted doesn't work (it may be the same as your incoming mail server BUT with a /owa tagged on the end.

next screen
Outgoing mail - again.. check your iPhone settings

see how that goes...

Axxll 01-29-2009 05:25 PM

didnt work, error message : unable to connect to server..check if its down etc...

the system was trying to connect but after few seconds it fails.

Photek 01-30-2009 03:42 AM

I would check with your system admin team that you have the right settings.
