Pardon me for disagreeing with the disenfranchised mob, but I think this was a great keynote. DRM free iTunes Music Store and iLife '09 made it very much worthwhile for me.
I refuse to by DRM'd music, I don't pirate music, and I don't buy CDs anymore (I refuse to get stuck with 8 dogs just to get one or two good songs). As you can imagine, this limits my options slightly when most of the music available for download has DRM attached to it. iTunes Music Store going DRM free is great news for me! I just wish they had also announced deals with all the movie studios to sell HD movies and not just rent HD. I would like to buy my movies in HD through my AppleTV rather than buy the SD versions. Ah well... it will come eventually. Even better is the release of iLife '09. In particular, they've turbo charged iMovie and added back all of the features from iMovie 6 HD that I could possibly have missed. And they've added more - Apple doesn't hype it up on the product page, but iMovie '09 can do picture-in-picture and green screen in addition to the 19 one-click effects and fast-forward, slow-motion and reverse. My home videos just got a whole lot more fun (or they will, once I get my hands on the new software). The face detection they've added to iPhoto looks pretty cool too - although it does negate a lot of the tagging that I've already done! |
I also think it was a solid keynote. New notebook, DRM-free music across the board (PROTIP: THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT), and big updates to some major apps. iMovie in particular is looking pretty slick here, and there are interesting things going on with the progression of iWork and introduction of iWork.com.

I won't be amazed until I get my Prosumer Mac Midtower desktop, or I can easily and legally (even though as it looks EULAs don't hold a ton of legality in certain areas) load OS X on my PCs. I also want more game developers for OS X.
Until then I just think they keep improving their own products which is nothing new or that real amazing to me personally. As for the DRM free music, that is great, but iTunes still sucks in my view, haha, I know I am hard to please. |

As for OSX on any PC.... I hope that never happens.... OSX is great because it is a niche product... (lack of virus writers for starters) One of the reasons Windows sucks is because it has to please all the people all of the time.... and be all things to all men... Anyway... I would like to see an 8Core MacBook Pro... :) |
