The Dashboard screens/mockups themselves floating around aren't really that good either. Microsoft has had a long time to get the 360 Dashboard right, and still can't come up with something that is really good? Faaaaaaaaaaail. |

Though anti, i am no fanboy, i do play all 3 consoles although i only own the ps3, and i like all of them for different reasons, but im JUST commenting on what came across from E3, and what i said about the new ui being like XMB was confirmed by many sites, like gamespot and gametrailers |

My PS2 started giving me the dead "Disc Read Error" and I called them up. The console was under warranty, and they claimed that I had dropped the console (How can you tell OVER THE PHONE? Without looking at it?), and as such, my warranty was now void. I let it go...and got myself a slim PS2 in 2006. It gave me good service, until it mysteriously died. Stopped reading ANY discs, just all around wouldn't work. I phoned Sony, and they wanted $100 to repair it! a $129 console, $100 repair? Not workin' for me. Binned it and bought a 360. Hasn't failed me.....yet. |
The PS3 concept is rubbish. Although, sure with the cell processor you could feasibly not ever have to upgrade it for a long time. However, when the next gen Wiis and 360s come out, what will Sony do then? The PS4?
It is way over priced and its features aren't even being taken advantage of. It is spec'd kind of ridiculous in my views, and there are no ground breaking PS3 only titles out right now. Maybe, MGS4, which I will admit I do want to play since I have played all the other ones, but I can't justify buying a system for just one game. |

(last 4 paragraphs) http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/technolog...nces_back.html And as far as the price is concerned, remember its also a blu-ray player, which is pretty much future proof so when blu ray gets to 1.4+ you wont need a new ps3, just a software update. i would like an xbox, but i dont have the cash :(. but online costs which is another major downer, and to be fair pretty much all the exclusives come out for windows anyways. And they didnt show really anything of theres which is coming out next year at e3, all they showed was gears and fable, the rest of the games were all Multi platform, and MS had just shed loads of cash to get them to be timed exclusives, or for some exclusive dlc... really which i think is just bad for gaming, and im sure they are making a HUGE loss from it, Bit like the gta4 dlc they bought for $50 million, even though its comming out for ps3 a year later Though i feel this thread is becoming a fanboy war, which im sure mikey is loving, and he'll show this with a worthy picture, but until then we can either continue this "debate" or end it? (since i pretty much won :p) |
You know what else was future proof?
beta max VHS mini disk CDs Laser Discs DVDs I am not buying it. My brother has one and it doesn't impress me for the price, plus 1080p is 1080p regardless of what media you use. I am not saying I won't ever own one, but I just can't justify owning one right now. Perhaps when the technology is taken advantage of, and actually put to use and the price drops, then I will probably get one. Plus, I hear that the PS3 is a pain to develop for and the dev kits are awfully expensive. Plus what happened to Final fantasy being a Sony exclusive? Exclusives don't mean much to me in the long run because in the end most things get ported anyway. Metal Gear has been ported to both the original xbox and the gamecube. |
Just as a point of order, consoles aren't really about graphical power, their about the games that you have on the system. Granted, a lot of power does help with that, but it's not necessarily essential.

We need more games like that for the Wii. But we also have games such as Wii Fit, Wii Sports, etc, that are fun to play. And the MotionPlus add-on? That was Nintendo's answer to people complaining en-masse about the vast inaccuracy of the wiimote's IR sensor. And the "money" thing: Sony has a lot of money to kick around, since they take a loss on each PS3 sold. Why don't they throw some of that on getting some exclusives behind the PS3? I know MGS4 is a great game...but a console getting moved by one game such as MGS4 is still pretty...pathetic, so to speak. |

When i said the wii was gimicky i meant like all the stupid addons, like a steering wheel attachment, or a golfclub attachment, they dont help in anyway, yet people still buy them cuz they look all nice and shiny. And what games do they have apart from the same over used ips like zelda and mario (even if they are great games) really the only new thing they announced whick looked good was madworld |

"Graphics do not make the game." I ask: Do I need to begin making references to Final Fantasy X-2? |

Actually, blu ray isn't even being used to it's capacity. With processors getting faster compression technology gets better. DVD9 can store like 15 gigs of data compressed. So, it wouldn't be 15 DVDs. |

errm ok so it would still be more than 5, since mgs uses the full 50gb's, and installs, and has v.high audio quality, and its 1080p, still you get my point right? Even having 2 discs is annoying, regardless of how great the game is. And surly by your own argument the same would apply to blu-ray. In any case, the next line of sequels are all using the full 50gbs. and if dvd9 could pull of being able to hold 15gb+ why isnt it making a come back, and being used to sell hd movies etc? |
