olealf,

If you installed first XFree86 and Apple X11 afterwards, it should be okay, as it will replace it.

You also installed 'system-xfree86' with Fink. So you can install things with Fink without problems.

Sounds good. I'm already installing software with fink without problems and the installed X11 apps run fine so far.

I know what you mean. I like being on the cutting edge as long as it doesn't interfere with my work. I simply was having too much trouble with Apple's X11 to make it worthwhile. I use XDarwin's XFree. It seems to me that the Apple developers didn't ask for advice from those who have actually made good working XFree's. It seems they want to reiinvent the wheel here, :) The problem is there are too many flats and blow-outs on their whell. OK, so it's "beta", but so are the others that seem to work flawlessly.
