Where do you want to spend your holiday?

Hello!
The spring is coming and the spirit is getting more and more sunny! :)
I'm here to say that my dream is to go somewhere where there is such a beautiful blue sea, white sand, lagunas, sun... Maybe Maldive's Islands or Seychelles... Or somewhere where I can see all this.
I've been to Malta and I saw blue laguna but I'm sure there are better places.
What about you? Have you been to Maldives? Where do you want to spend your holiday?

Photek 02-21-2008 10:25 AM

just spent my holiday in Port Alfred, South Africa...

Got to dune board, kite surf, canoe, see loads of wild animals, bribe the local police, eat great sea food, get a sun tan and went deep sea fishing!

it was great.. but the country is seriously on a downwards spiral... shame its a great country.

I think I will try the Maldives next year

I think I wish to visit Central or Eastern Europe. I'd like to go to Czech Republic to taste some beer..

Went there not so long ago.... had a GREAT time... there are some amazing underground pubs with huge vaulted ceilings... great beer too!

Prague, IMHO is more beautiful than Paris, and is a great place to visit...

I want to MONTECARLO!!!!

J Christopher 02-22-2008 11:48 PM

While there are *many* places in the world I want to visit (or live for awhile, which is what I more typically do), right now Ibiza, Spain tops the list. I love tropical islands, and have lived on Oahu for a couple years, and on Key West (sub-tropical) for several months. Oahu was better, but more difficult to drive to from mainland US). Of course, there are many other places in Europe that I would visit if I get to Spain any time soon, such as London, Helsinki, Amsterdam, etc.

last summer i went to Morocco, Out of all the places i would recommend i'd say casablanca the beach there is awesome. Or if you had the cash, stay in the meridian hotel in Marrakesh, trust me you wont want to leave :).

Congratulations, I hope it was really great! Underground pubs sound great! Czech Republic is the world capital of beer, so this would be the major sightseeing for me there.:)

To my mind, Paris is very overrated - all this fuss about the capital of love etc. I'd prefer Prague or London (maybe also Spain and Italy) to visit in Europe first.

Have you ever been to Paris? I'm asking you because I think if somebody have been there couldn't say that it's overrated - all this fuss about the capital of love or some-thing... It's the best city I've been to... I felt a snug and cosy atmosphere in spite of a stately architecture...

I've been in Paris. I was pretty young. I guess I was about 14. So I can't say anything special about this city... All I remember is Torre d'Eiffel, Louvre glass Pyramides and Notre Dam de Paris temple which I liked the most.
Talking about holidays in Europe I would say that I like Spain (Seville, Barcelona, La Pineda), England (London) and sin city Amsterdam :D where I've been 2 months ago.
I've never been to Czech Republic. I should go there as I am a beer fan. :) But I fear to get back stout from there... :)

Spent a week in Maui and fell in love with snorkeling. If you know where to go, it can be awesome! The more volcanic rock there is, the clearer the water and the abundance of fish.

Well, sounds interesting.. But I didn't quite get what snorkeling is.. Is it kind of tube that goes under the water? Could you please tell us about it...
And where is that strange place called Maui? I didn't hear about it as well...

Jay Carr 02-27-2008 11:28 AM

I'm going to China this summer...

Snorkeling is the poor man's scuba diving. You put on a mask, the breathing tube and some fins, then enjoy the scenery!

The fish varieties are incredible...

Maui is one of the Hawaiian islands. It is not as touristy as Hawaii, but not as remote as Kauai.

We were able to stay at a small bungalow that was on the property of a very nice couple for around $65 a day. We rented a car for $30 a day, and ate at Costco for $10 a day by buying a bag of salad medley and rotisserie chicken. That left us some splurge money where we ate once at Bubba Gump Shrimp, and at a highly recommended fish restaurant near the Oceanic Aquarium.

We had a grand time!

I just got back from Tokyo. It was an amazing trip. I'd suggest that, but I'm sure the beaches in the Maldives would be a bit more relaxing. The crowds in Tokyo are insane.

This summer I was at Red Sea in Hurghada (Egypt) - also had a great time. I spent a lot of time 'snorkelling' (great word!) and I like it much more that scuba diving. I've never tried to, but I dislike deep water.
BTW, there's a great variety of fish species in the red see. Coral reefs are amazing!

The same was with me, but I even refused to try diving. Nope, that's not my calling!:)

Oh, not too expensive! :) And I believe it was great! But I think that it will be very expensive to get there from Moscow by plane... I should check this out..

About diving (snorkeling) in the Red Sea. I did it when I was small and saw some marvelous fishes.. That was great!
But deep blue sea is not for me as well... Don't like to dive deep and I guess I will never try the real diving with oxygene balloons...
And why Red Sea is dangerous?? I don't think it is..

Well, in fact Red Sea is not more dangerous than any other sea. Of course, there's some dangerous fauna there, which can be found in the open sea, but areas near popular resorts are absolutely safe (if you will not touch the fish).

From Moscow you can go to better places at a better price. So keep looking! :)

As for me, I would love to do some diving in the gulf of Aqaba. I would love to find and photograph some of those Egyptian chariot parts others have spotted. For now, I must dive via the internet. ;)

schneb 03-04-2008 06:49 PM

Shouldn't be too long before we have a roving scuba, Web cam that runs on sunlight and wifis an HD signal of what it seas--er sees.

Yes, and another little thing called Teleportation... :D

Spring has come to Moscow... ;) And the sea is calling for us! :)
Another place I want to visit is Ibiza, Spain. Has anyone already been there?
