I generally use MPlayer for watching tricky subtitles, I've never tried Turkish ones myself but this screenshot shows that it should be possible.

You can download official builds here: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html

Or unofficial, but more recent, builds here: http://www.haque.net/software/mplaye...yerosx/builds/

One small note, you can go to MPlayer's Preferences > Miscellaneous, under Advanced Settings tick the box for Additional parameters and use the line:

-ass -embeddedfonts -fontconfig -correct-pts -sid 0

This should make it load subtitles automatically, pressing V enables/disabled the subtitles and J changes language/track.

I like Quicktime Player with Perian. Perian allows you to open a ton of unsupported media files in all apps that use QuickTime.

If Perian doesn't work, I use VLC.

I used to just use VLC, but i found that for avi's, divx player is really good, has a nice interface, or if i wanna lie on the sofa and watch something, id just use front row

kel101 12-20-2007 07:19 AM

your subtitles are .srt files right?

pretioza 12-20-2007 07:22 AM

yes sometimes quick player open autamaticly but sometimes not..

What version did you download? Try removing the -sid 0 part at the end.

If that still doesn't work, open the log from that dialog box and paste what it says here.

pretioza 12-20-2007 07:35 AM

at the end of subtitles? or what?
Actually i open with vlc player and some of the conversation couldnt be shown ..
And i wanna a player that open srt and support turkish language..

melon 12-20-2007 07:39 AM

If you look at my earlier post, I said to use the line -ass -embeddedfonts -fontconfig -correct-pts -sid 0 in the Advanced settings bit, is that what you've done? If so, try using the line -ass -embeddedfonts -fontconfig -correct-pts instead (i.e. removing the -sid 0 part at the end).

If you've not used that line at all, what version of MPlayer did you download? Also please click on the Open Log button from the playback error window you get and copy and paste what the log says.

Version 1.0 rc2
It was also with sid 0 ..
And i make it -pts only but nothing changed the same problem..

Hey Pretioza. Have you gone to system preferences and looked under the International settings? You should be able to set your machine up for Turkish there.

pretioza 01-26-2008 04:15 AM

i ve already made it..Bt i think i need turkish font..Is it true?

pretioza 01-27-2008 05:37 AM

Adding a question totally unrelated to the thread is a sure fire technique to not get a solution. Your best bet is to start a new thread with descriptive title and a detailed (very detailed!) description of your problem including your Mac model, OS version, specific descriptions of attempts so far to remedy the situation, etc.
