|
You can get WinRAR for OS X but it is command line only at http://www.rarlabs.com/download.htm
It's actually really easy to use and I use it all the time no problem. |
The free Stuffit Expander should open them pretty easily. A lot of people bash Stuffit but I've rarely had problems with it.

You just need UnrarX or SimplyRAR
|
Unrarx always gives error..I have never try simplyrar..
Stuffit Expander is also bad..I had alot of problems.: DDuggan --- How can i install winrar os x .. |
Sounds to me like you have a Password Protected archive or a corrupt archive. What does the error message say in unrarx?

This will open a Finder window with all the command files. Just drag and drop the rar and unrar command files that you download from the rarlabs website. You will need to Authenticate the move with your username and password. Re-launch Terminal and you can use the rar and unrar commands. The easiest way to use it is to cd to the location your rar file is. E.g cd /Users/Danny/Desktop/Folder, and type "unrar e " then type the first letter of the RAR filename in the folder and press the tab key. This will automatically fill in the rest of the filename. Then press enter, the the rar file will be extracted to the folder that you CD'd to (which in my example is the same folder the RAR file is in). To make things go faster, you can drag and drop folders into Terminal and it automatically puts in the path to that folder. Sounds a bit complicated, but it's pretty simple. Hope it makes sense... |
So how would you unrar a password protected rar (assuming you know the password) using that method?
|
I've never needed to do that so I can't speak from experience. It might just be you type unrar e PATH p PASSWORD. In Terminal type "unrar help" to get a list of commands.
|
OK, thanks, I've always used unrarX and or SimplyRAR and they have always worked but I will install winrar osx just to experiment with.:)
|
yes i used simplyrar ..This is best..Now i have a diffrent problem..
For Example: I have native elektrik piano audio unit..That is almost 15 parts...i can not install this ..how can i install it..when i open first part of those i see there is an error.. |
Does it give you the error? Have you tried repairing it.

This looks like it could be a split archive created by someone who had no idea how to create on. You might try expanding all of the zip files and naming (if they aren't already) each additional RAR file to add a numeric suffix (.1, .2, .3…) and move them into the same folder. Your RAR software should automatically join them together.
|
i ve downloaded au plugins..Almost all plugin files are like that..I ll try it.
|
Looking at the files again… The DYNAMICS.nfo files seem to indicate that the files are formated for the Komplete 5 package as it is rather than expanding it with another RAR package. Perhaps there's a utility or a direct Import command within the Native Instruments package to handle it.

So what can i do vegas ..I wrote all suffix to end of the rar files but problem is the same..
I read something and i found.. JESUS CHRIST!! I FINALLY got this thing working! For those who are new to the setup(or whatever that puzzle i had to do to get Albino actually installed was called) I got 4 zip folders and 2 individual files in the folder i "unrar"ed. Just highlight every folder and then unzip. As guessed youd end up with 4 unzipped folders. Just go to each of the unzipped folders and drag its contents to the folder that had the 4 zip folders. You should get a "replace existing file message"; i DID NOT replace anything. If it had the same name i figured it was the same thing to Begin. After you drag all the contents out of each of the 4 unzipped files you should notice another rar file. Now would be the time to unrar with whatever you use. I tried to unrar while the file was still in its unzipped folder; It created an "unmountable Image file" and gave me an error; so as far as i can tell this particular rar needs all the files from all of the zip directories in order to extract a good "Mountable Image file". If you "unrar"ed successfully youll get 3 pdf's as well. After that everything is smooth sailing. Mount the image, and click the installer. I wonder why the posters just dont rar the image file or installer.. Anyways it sounds like these files can vary, this is just what I had to do to get the dam thing working. |
what did he mean Mountable image file...
