My sister's Photo Booth is black but isight is on

roncross@cox.net 12-25-2006 02:29 PM

Do you see yourself through the camera?

How do you know isight is on. Do you see yourself through the camera?

jareddigby 12-25-2006 02:33 PM

Green light is on. It works on iChat.

roncross@cox.net 12-25-2006 02:35 PM

When you turn on Photo Booth, you are supposed to be able to see yourself through the camera. Do you?

jareddigby 12-25-2006 03:14 PM

Should & I don't

roncross@cox.net 12-25-2006 03:25 PM

What happens if you log out and in again. Are you able to see yourself when you turn on photobooth?

jareddigby 12-25-2006 07:57 PM

Haven't tried. How would that help?

roncross@cox.net 12-25-2006 07:59 PM

Sometimes the system will reset itself particularly if it's due to a plist file.

jareddigby 12-27-2006 07:11 PM

Didn't work:-(

I had this same problem awhile ago and re-setting the SMC fixed it. It's worth a shot as its pretty easy to try. Hope it helps.

What version of photo booth do you have? Is it version 1.1? Have you updated to the latest version?

yellow 12-28-2006 02:44 PM

Did you ever have it working on the sawtooth?

Did Apple finally release it for all computers?

I know this article is from a while ago, so that is why I ask.

It never worked on the sawtooth:-(

schwartze 12-28-2006 04:26 PM

Well. The comments in the article might explain why.

roncross@cox.net 12-28-2006 04:57 PM

Check this article out as well, it may be of some help.

How can Photo Booth work on everything but sawtooth?

roncross@cox.net 12-28-2006 08:07 PM

jareddigby, educate me a little bit. What is sawtooth? I went on Apple's website and don't see a model named sawtooth. Is sawtooth some kind of software?

I have another question. Did photo booth come already installed on this machine or did you or someone else installed it as a standalone app?

schwartze 12-28-2006 08:22 PM

Being that it was introduced in 1999 (http://lowendmac.com/ppc/g4saw.shtml) I am guessing that photobooth did not come on it.

In the article I found above it also states that the reason the people think it doesn't work on it is the graphics card.

So to get photobooth to work I would suggest looking for a newer graphics card that might work on the older model Mac or just sit real still in front on the iSight and choose capture still.

jareddigby 12-28-2006 08:27 PM

Sawtooth is a g4 see: http://www.apple-history.com/?page=g...mily&order=ASC Photo Booth was a add on

roncross@cox.net 12-28-2006 09:08 PM

As an add on, do you mean it was installed from a third party site or did Apple provide it for you?
