.AMV converter

I'm looking for a (any video format) to .AMV (Anime Music Video) converter for Mac.

I just bought a nano clone, a machspeed mp4 player trio 899, and it only supports .AMV for video playback.
I've searched for such a converter and everything seems to points to www.mympxplayer.com which isnt hosted anymore.

Any idea ?

Is that the ONLY format it supports? Wouldn't it also support Mp4 since it's in the name?
"AMV is a video file format, produced by MTV for use in Chinese MP3/MP4/MTV Players; classified as S1 MP3 Players. It is also used by the X-Micro Video MP3 400 player which includes software to play AMV files on a Windows PC. This format is 96x52 pixels in its native size."
There probably are several converters out there but I imagine they are all in Chinese.

Yes, it is the only format it supports. I have read somewhere that the MP4 in its name was just a marketing thing (mp4 coming "after" mp3, lets make a "better" mp3 player, call it mp4 player ! ... )

Perhaps this will be helpful. It appears to utilize iMovie and FFmpegX, a very powerful audio/video converter.

http://www.mympxplayer.org

I had the same problem getting to mympxplayer.com. It looks like they're down now.

However, I've found that http://www.mympxplayer.org works instead.

They have the AMV Converter you are looking for, for your player.

Hope that helps you out.

ericscorpse2002:
I'm using the sowftware that came with the mp4 player, PC version. I havent been able to find an ok AMV converter for mac, GUI or not. The application runs very well in parallels desktop, so no need to reboot.
If you still need that application, send me an email at sunsoul_at_mac.com and i'll reply with the zipped soft if its not too big.

ericscorpse2002@ 09-01-2006 02:33 PM

thank you fenrack...I sent you an e-mail

fenrack 10-01-2006 06:28 PM

Since this thread came up, tons of poeple have been sending me emails asking me to send them the 13MB AMV converter for PC. I will no longer send this file. If anyone has a webspace to help those in need, i'll upload the AMV converter one last time (if you give me a correct URL :P )

Please robo… Make one post with both sentences. This is a forum; Not a chat.

robo94 12-25-2007 07:21 PM

ok i will but that answer was pointless......

robo94 12-25-2007 07:46 PM

well people i know its xmas but you think someone would have posted by now! i need a amv convert tool for mac osx 10.3.9!!!

Las_Vegas 12-25-2007 07:54 PM

When you learn to ask a question and wait for an answer instead of posting a half dozen sentences asking why no-one is interested in answering your question immediately, I might take the time to read the original question instead of getting irritated over the plethora of pointless posts. This practice of posting one message after another causes your posts to be read less, not more.

As to your request… If you read the thread, the solution was already given. Just read!

robo94 12-26-2007 02:40 PM

sorry but this tread is confusing i looked at the mympxplayer website but i did not know which 1 to download there seemed to be hundreds .... anyone have one they would like to suggest??

Help!!!!

So I've read through this entire thread and even followed some links but I can't find what I think was originally requested by someone:
A converter to convert files to .amv format.

I've got a G4 running 10.3.9 and I have literally spent the last two hours looking for a way to convert video to the .amv format. My son got a video player (that can only play .amv video) for Christmas and now he wants to bring a bunch of videos into school for his friends.

Does ANYONE have a converter or know where I can find one?

Like I said, I've read this thread and haven't been able to find anyone who has said: Here is the converter you're looking for.

Thanks (I hope)
Peter

Mac AMV conversion: a solution.

Lets keep it simple. The solution is at hand.

Go to http://www.conceppt.com

Look at the menu column on the right and click "Downloads 2"
Once there scroll down the page and click "Conversion Service"
A new page will open. Click the "Choose file" button and upload your file.
A bit further down you'll find an "output format" menu/button: choose format and then click the "OK" button.
Wait for a minute whilst it converts and then download the converted file.
Simple, free and without complications.
Can be utilised from any computer, anywhere.
Ciao y'all.
Wambaz.

Mac AMV conversions: part 2

If you intend popping your conversion into a Chinese MP3/MP4 player, think again. Those contraptions have a lot less capacity that they declare.
They normally show your file for 3 seconds and then a "Format error" message appears.

One last thing: prior to uploading your file to the Conversion service its advisable to format your video to the following settings...

Compression: H 264
Frame rate: 15
Dimension: 160 x 119
Scale: Fit within (160 x 120) ...Save it to a .mov file.

CiaoAgain.

Wamba 06-13-2008 06:16 AM

In summary.
Go to....

http://www.conceppt.com

Look at the menu column on the right and click "Downloads 2"
Once there scroll down the page and click "Conversion Service"
A new page will open. Click the "Choose file" button and upload your file.
A bit further down you'll find an "output format" menu/button: choose format and then click the "OK" button.
Wait for a minute whilst it converts and then download the converted file.

I suggest that before uploading you use QuickTime and "export" your video to a .mov file, with the following settings..
Video...Compression: H.264, Quality: Medium, Frame rate: 15, Encoding mode: multipass, Dimension: 160x120, Sale: Fit within (160x120).
Sound... Format: Integer (Big Endian), Sample rate: 44,100 khz, Sample size: 16-bit, Channels: Mono.
I've found that all .flv files, of whatever size, converted as above, work. Therefore if youre not having any luck convert first to .flv and then use QT to export to .mov, as above and then upload to the convertion service.

Cumbersome but effective.

Ciao, Wamba.
