The first Flash animation that's actually worth watching

http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/animator

ThreeDee 06-10-2006 09:25 PM

I didn't click it yet, but i'm not sure I want to, because i already know about albinoblacksheep.

acme.mail.order 06-10-2006 09:30 PM

Is it supposed to do anything?

From Bruno Bozetto

Mr. Otto goes to the Olympics

and

Europeans vs. Italians. Can you see the difference?

solipsism 06-10-2006 09:48 PM

That is very clever.

mnewman 06-10-2006 10:13 PM

Well done. Thanks for the link.

It's definitely safe and non-offensive.

"It's definitely safe and non-offensive."

I don't know, the figure looks a little like Mohammad.

Mine now weighs about 180. How do I get it back down to 160?

Statistics about death by firearms in the US vs. comparable countries with tighter gun control might question that statement.

But given the controversial topic --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_pol..._United_States (which could use some pro-gun-control balance), we probably won't be able to get an articulated and friendly discussion going without an international perspective on the subject.

CAlvarez 06-11-2006 12:28 AM

Huh?? You got gun politics from that animation? Did you reply to the wrong thread?

Strangely enough, just before coming here I was reading a story about a young boy who saved his mother's life by shooting a crazed home invader. Are you reading through my Safari cache...?

I am not, I assure you.
Who does is anybodies guess ;) :

Gun control outside the US is perceived in a very different way, as you certainly know and even the use of guns "for fun" probably does not qualify as "non-offensive" world-wide.

CAlvarez 06-11-2006 12:58 AM

Ok, I'm lost. Is there something on that page that has something to do with using guns for fun? When I look at it, I don't see it, but I do have a few ad and graphics blockers in place. I just get the Flash animation and some normal ad links.

styrafome 06-11-2006 01:59 AM

There were guns in the animation. And the destructive use of ropes and hammers. I'm waiting for the rope-control and hammer-control advocates to show up...

The pro-gun control people are afraid to get the others too riled up. Some of the people on the other side of the argument can get quite extreme: http://geekz.co.uk/lovesraymond/archive/terrorismistic
:)

missbeehive1963 06-11-2006 09:48 AM

very clever stuff,

almost an uncanny representation of the hallucinations brought on by a 12 hour flash stint!

one of my fave flash showcases is still tokyo plastic.

its a couple of years old now, but i'll never forget the firt time i saw it, i was lost in it for a good hour, drenched in awe, it uses my fave colour scheme,

and if you are unfamiliar with it, which i doubt, be sure to have your sound up fairly high.

tlarkin 06-11-2006 10:02 AM

that was pretty cool i was always a fan of these stick figure flash animations

CAlvarez 06-11-2006 01:19 PM

Seriously, the "guns" in an animation could be controversial? I can't even fathom a response that would be allowed here, so I'll just STFU.

We must ban digital erasers too, did you see their destructive power?

solipsism 06-11-2006 01:23 PM

I'd be more concerned with the pro-cloning, godless agenda of the animation.

ThreeDee 06-11-2006 02:56 PM

Woah, sorry for making this thread into an arguement. The link was fine (and unoffensive). I just know that some parts of albinoblacksheep are offensive(to some).

styrafome 06-11-2006 03:00 PM

I'm sure it offended blacks. Those stick figures were all black!

Here in Canada, surely the most politically correct country in the world today, folks who were once "Black Canadians" are now "African Canadians". That really chuffs a pal of mine who's a long-transplanted Egyptian, hence African, but excluded from the intended definition because he's a Coptic (Christian) Arab.

CAlvarez 06-11-2006 03:28 PM

A friend of mine is African, but pasty white. So she always checks off "African-American" as her origin on government forms, just for fun. It only offends white people she says, black people think it's fitting to make fun of something so dumb.
