Quiz in Apple history

.
BBC has posted a 10-question quiz on Apple’s history.
Go ahead, take the test. Anyone else admit they didn’t get a perfect score?

tbsingleton73 04-01-2006 12:18 PM

:o I'll admit it.

missbeehive1963 04-01-2006 12:45 PM

7 out of ten i got.

it was the 90's product, the first production run, and the first logo that got me.

a lot of what i did know, was actually from reading "iCON" steve jobs biog, pretty decent book, also "ipod therefore i am" another great book.

damn though, i resented to being told to stick to my pc!

dabbled my ass! more like full on relentless penetration.

yeah, so how about some actual numbers from you people

styrafome 04-01-2006 01:03 PM

I got 8. Darn.

bedouin 04-01-2006 01:19 PM

7 out of 10. I didn't read the whole question for question 3, just the answer that said "$666" and assumed it was asking the price of the Apple I. I also thought the first iPod was 10gb and missed the "greatest gadget of all time" question.

7 out of 10

i had the exact same error with bedouin

i tought they asked for the famous $666 price

Is that what the Newton was named after?

I got 8 right, I thought the iMac was the greatest all time and I got the logo wrong. D'oh.

So when did Apple change their logo?

So when did Apple change their logo?

A couple of times, back in 1977 when they changed from the "Isaac Newton+tree" logo to the 6-color Apple, then again a few years ago when they dropped the 6-color Apple in favor of the monochrome Apple.

Ah, I missed one—number 8: "Which Apple product was recently crowned as the greatest gadget of all time by a US magazine?" "The PowerBook 100."

missbeehive1963 04-02-2006 04:30 AM

....yeah...don't know if you guys noticed, how vague i was with the answers i got wrong, the success rate is getting higher as well.
i dare you to be a bit more cryptic for the ppl who havent taken the test yet.

Yeah, each generation stands on the shoulders of its foremothers and fathers. Umm, I mean each poster piggybacks on the posters who have come before. Well, anyways, something like that...

missbeehive1963 04-02-2006 05:26 AM

i'm going to go in for a re-sit

Oh, heh, sorry, I guess I kind of forgot about that. :o I'd edit it, but I guess my post is already too old.

That quiz question should be a gimme. All the other questions were at least somewhat narrowly focused trivia. The problem with "magazine crowns greatest gadget" is that there are thousands of magazines and we know how easy it is for any magazine to try and boost circulation by publishing a "best of" issue. How are we to read all those magazines?

I'd consider a score of 9 to be perfect under the circumstances. I only got 8, but oh well.

missbeehive1963 04-06-2006 04:23 AM

that was a big story at the time though, i cant remember the magazine but i remember the build up to that. it received a lot of press.

ArcticStones 04-06-2006 10:23 AM

.
I believe it was Newsweek or Time.

styrafome 04-06-2006 12:40 PM

No, if you read the quiz answers, the magazine was "Mobile PC." Right, we all flip through that next to the grocery checkout every week...

macs power 04-06-2006 08:32 PM

I think that apples grow on trees.

Oh well only a mac user since I bought and imav 1.5 years ago.

The defining point I began to like apple was when they got rid of the happy mac on turning on a computer.

Shucks, I just lost another point! :o Couldn’t have read it there, though, as I’ve never seen that magazine. Must have read it on BBC itself, and perhaps the web version of a Norwegian daily as well. But I do recall seeing a key story on it.

styrafome 04-07-2006 01:34 AM

On second thought, I should have phrased that post in a way that didn't give away one of the answers!

lyndonl 04-12-2006 05:52 AM

i also got 8 out of 10

a lost out on the Apple Logo ( hey i thought it was the rainbow apple as im sure many did)

and I picked the iPod over the powerbook 100
