Maybe the greatest site for Mac users

AppleKeynotes.com

the name says it all

Jay Carr 02-12-2006 08:23 PM

Interesting...

pantherman13 02-13-2006 09:49 AM

Even though its a big file, download the MacWorld SF 2000. He introduces OS X. When you see, you'll see how far OS X has come in the past years.

oh and he makes an announcment at the end and the crowd goes nuts.

voldenuit 02-13-2006 11:10 AM

Insanely great.

Hopefully they'll be able to keep it up and avoid to bruise Steve's ego so Apples army of lawyers doesn't put an end to this.

Phil St. Romain 02-13-2006 02:22 PM

Everytime I've tried to access this site, I get a "Temporarily unavailable" message.

Looking forward to actually visiting it sometime.

Raven 02-13-2006 02:33 PM

I can get to the main page but clicking on anything... even typing something in the search bar gives the same issue as Phil St. Romain.

pantherman13 02-13-2006 03:09 PM

works fine for me...

Raven 02-13-2006 03:32 PM

Hum... Now I'm getting this:
Site Temporarily Unavailable

We apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact the webmaster/ tech support immediately to have them rectify this. error id: "bad_httpd_conf"

On Mac and PC and in different browsers... I'm guessing their experiencing diffuculties for now...

rj89 02-13-2006 06:05 PM

they were on digg so they got the "digg effect" a massive amount of people coming to the website. i've been waiting for a website where i can download the keynotes to watch later so i'm anxiously waiting for it to come back.

rj89 02-22-2006 04:40 AM

looks like they just got the hammer thrown down on them. i was just about get some of the keynotes too.

" We've been served!

We've received a notice from Apple Legal, therefore we must close AppleKeynotes.com although we would like to thank all those who donated and contributed by downloading or uploading. Maybe we can come back someday - maybe not, but for now we're closed...

TUAW has posted about our closing, you can read that here

We would also like to mention, that all donations went to the National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association"

too bad i hope apple at least lets you download them from somewhere in the future (ie:itunes)

voldenuit 02-22-2006 05:14 AM

I can understand that Apple doesn't want some college kids to make a fast buck on ad revenue using Apples content.

It remains a complete mystery to me however, what, if anything at all, Apple is thinking they are going to achieve by withholding content that clearly lots of loyal (bordering religious fanatism) customers eagerly want to download.

pantherman13 02-22-2006 06:04 AM

yeah I knew that would happen sooner or later, so I got all the keynotes i could ;)

Could you maybe get me the 2000 one with the introduction of os x? Its probably too big though huh.

ArcticStones 02-22-2006 10:43 AM

.
Shucks! :( I’m too late.
Always wanted to be able to watch past keynotes, especially the 2000 announcement of OSX.

Oh, well.

I do wish, however, that there was a simple way oaf "recording" streamed video while we’re watching it on the web.

I don't get it. I didn't go to the site and I really don't even know what a keynote is. Isn't that just like an expo, where steve talks about whats coming for mac next? Why would they close this site and withhold something that was public when it first came out?

Duh! Now that they know that they have fanatic customers wanting to download this content, they will package it up and sell it on iTMS. :p

Most likely, Apple wants to have control over the dissemination of their own intellectual property. I don't know if the site owner requested permission to offer their property . . . it sounds like not, with the legal notices and all. You should never presume a right to another's intellectual property unless they state up front what permissions are in force.

Snapz pro is cool and allow you to record anything on your screen. I've only used the demo but I'll get the full thing some time and its only like $70.

The only problem is with content from the web (especially the long keynotes) the video has to be able to play w/o it needing to re buffer.

Sounds cool!
But what does this mean? Is there a practical size limit?
I presume that long keynotes, for instance, would form rather big files.

Does this mean Snapz Pro can’t be used for that purpose after all.

rj89 02-22-2006 02:23 PM

snapz pro is pretty decent it tends to be "clunky" but if you a powerful mac with a good to great internet connection recording video shouldn't be a problem. it's to bad it's like the only option for recording video off the web.

there's no size limit by the way you just drag the cursor around the video and hit return and let it record. i think what he means that if it rebuffers then you'll be recording that rebuffering.

No....you CAN use it but your computer must have a good enough connection to play the whole keynote without stopping. Thank you for clarifying rj, thats what I meant. It recoreds everything inside of an area you define. If the video stops to buffer in that area, it gets recoreded. I don't think i've been able to play a whole keynote without my computer having to stop to buffer.

wow really i thought everyone in the forums at least knew what the keynotes were. i figured you knew being such a big poster on these forums. i think alot of people including myself want certain ones if not them all cause we liked seeing the moment something new and exciting came from apple i love seeing the reactions of the crowd.

heres a video from the 1984 keynote introducing the mac:

.....any video with someone wearing a bowtie is kickass to me.

pdr 02-22-2006 11:54 PM

This is pretty funny...

Sort of "Best of" :)

Screengem0531 02-23-2006 12:34 AM

Yes, thats funny. How embarassing would that be huh? Being the CEO and standing up there and trying to give a presentation that with stuff that isn't working. Apple still rules though
