10.4.3 + Safari + macosxhints.com
is anyone else getting odd results when looking at this site since the 10.4.3 update?
I seem to get pages loading with text missing, text overlapping, objects not alligning and posts missing..... simply hitting reload will solve it but the only thing thats new is 10.4.3..... it happens on my 12" PB at home and my 17" imac at work... and only on this site that I have noticed... |
I haven't noticed anything strange using Safari on my iBook G4 with 10.4.3
Do you have any Safari enhancements installed? |
I haven't noticed anything either.
|
I've had the same problem, it also seems to affect a few other websites as well.
|
nahhhh....... my PB and iMac are all standard installs, no enhancers, 3rd party add ons or themes.. possibly me and Chris are suffering a uk only problem!!
its odd, it seems like the page is loading 99% of what it needs and completes early... |
Maybe some of the ads aren't loading. There seem to be a lot of pages that Safari can't finish rendering until the ads load, presumably because the page creator didn't specify dimensions in advance.

this is what I mean!

anybody.... anybody... bueller? :D
|
Open Safari's "Activity" window and watch it as you go to a forums page. Does it show some components failing to load?
|
Photek,
You are not alone, I get the same odd results as you and sometimes worse than the pictures you posted. Will investigate further... . |
Activity viewer shows no errors or problems, I have tested it on about 20 pages that have loaded up funny..
this is odd.... but fortunatly the first time in my 7 year mac career that I have ever been the victim of a glitch!! I am gonna send some screenshots and a description of the events to apple. :D just for the record, I have 'reset' safari, trashed its .plist and not seen any errors in activity viewer.. I'm stumped! |

Made the 'Page Load Test' from Safari Debug menu and it gave me twice the following error (I run the test 10 times).

Everything works fine here, but as I said in another thread I had to reinstall Adobe Photoshop Elements, it had stopped working altogether.

The strange thing is, that yesterday I had a problem with greyed out areas (like your screen shot) when displaying Entourage’s inbox. I rebuilt the database and now it seems find. But it did make me wonder... Best regards, ArcticStones |

I'll jump in on the side that has had errors on display of this forum as well. Not that anything doesn't work, the display of the page is just not complete (as it looks to me). And, yes it does eventually display properly...
|
Craig noted this in another thread.
There's definitely an issue with the new Safari and vBulletin, which I've seen while using several boards. |
I can confirm this as well. Having the issue on Safari since the 10.4.3 problem. In my case when I click on a specific forum it shows only the first post in a very odd way (obvioulsy I go this issue just before posting here but now can't reproduce the same error). The characters are bigger and the text desc for the post takes 3-4 lines... If i click on refresh, its then ok... but it doesn't happen all the time... very odd indeed... And I have no enhancements for Safari, networking or else. No error in the Safari activity log either.

for what its worth, I droppeed apple a bug report on it, perhaps if everyone else does the same we might get some where with a bit of people power!

I was able to get a snapshot of one of the screwed up pages... and refresh fixed it...
|
just a quick update.....!
That giltch has become so annoying now I have switched to Camino, they have just released V1 and it is very quick and very slick. Hope Apple fix Safari soon, I was pleased to see its market share rise to almost 4%... but if it dont work... I cant use it! |
I've been getting this problem too. My screen looks exactly like Photek's second attachment in post #7 above. A refresh doesn't do anything.
... Using Mozilla for the time being :| |
I'm getting these glitches with the forums, but a refresh fixes it almost every time.
|
The security update has fixed it....!
anyone else noticed it?! :D |
Its an issue with the combination of Safari and vBulletin, I'm experience the same exact problem at another board I visit on a regular basis. The recent security update has done nothing to improve this for me. This is the one thing I'm hoping gets fixed in the upcoming 10.4.4.
|
I'm still seeing the problem in Safari/10.4.3 as well. As has been previously stated, the simple solution is to just reload the page.
