Hi,
I've just bought the new motorola V360 and i can't use iSync for it. Does anyone know if the V360 is supported or not and if there are plans to support the Motorola V360 in iSync ? Thanks in advance, Brice |
It isn't on the list:
http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/devices.html |
Hi,
i've already seen this list, but the V360 is one of the most recent motorola phones. perhaps the list is not up to date ? |
there are a few posts on this site that tell you how to edit the list of devices that isync will see, sometime it won't work, but other times just changing a few bits of text will get everything working sweet!
do a search for motorola + isync or something this might give a bit of insight too. http://www.lowendmac.com/macdan/05/0801.html |
I managed to hack iSync to work with the V360. I searched on the net and found out the Motorola E398 had the same product number as the V360. So I went by the instructions on http://www.lowendmac.com/macdan/05/0801.html and all works great by using Bluetooth and iSync with the V360. I've put the MetaClasses.plist file up on my iDisk for all to download. http://homepage.mac.com/gavin33/FileSharing17.html
Just replace the MetaClasses.plist file in iSync program under By left-clicking then go to Show Package Contents (command-clicking for those who still use one-button Apple mice) Contents / PlugIns / ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice / Contents / PlugIns / PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin / Contents / Resources / MetaClasses.plist |
Who's your carrier? I've got to get a new phone, and I'm thinking of dumping Verizon because of their sleazy business practices.

I've got the Motorola V360 and I've tried the hack but does not work. Could you help me with that? Thanks. |
I'm not able to pair this phone using Bluetooth. It does see the phone, but on completion of the pairing it doesn't see any services for the phone. I'm on the latest Mac OS X on a PowerBook G4 1.5 with built-in bluetooth.
Anyone had succes with pairing this phone? |

v360 isync e398 hack...works for phone #'s & email.. not addresses
I have thankfully employed the above documented hack to sync my wifes v360 with isync. Unfortunately, the supposedly new address fields that the phone offers are not filled up with info during syncs.. only phone #'s and email addresses. I am guessing that the e398 we are pretending to be didn't have address capabilities. Hopefully there is an update to isync soon adding this phone and feature.
only real complaint is that the sync takes each contact from the computer and breaks it into as many contacts as there are phone #'s and email in it.. So, my contact for Joe Blow which had 3 phone #'s (home, work, cell) and an email is now 4 contacts in the phone.. 1000 contact limit filled up too quick. guess she has to keep her palm pilot:( |
Any luck with TMobile as a carrier? TMobile has essentially 2 phones with bluetooth that I'm interested in. RAZR (which is listed as supported) and the v360. I'd prefer to get the 360 as you can expand the memory, but I'd really like to know that it's going to be able to sync to my laptop (G4 powerbook running 10.4.3).
|
tmobile..
Discord...
It's not so much about tmobile.. its about the phone. Tmo doesn't handicap their phones to my knowledge so what you can do with your powerbook will just depend on the phone's capabilities. I use a treo 650 on Tmo and it works just fine with my mac. The v360 is working with isync but not for addresses as I stated above. Overall the Tmo service in the SF bay area is just okay. I almost bailed until i threw my sim in a treo 650 and my reception improved greatly. v360 seems to have great reception (for Tmo) as well. Not sure how razr is. Previously i had a samsung e105. from what i read, samsung and sony/erik have the worst reception. Not good to pair that with the worst reception provider. But i am just too cheap to switch. i like my 3000 mins for $50.. and treo email/web for $5.. though, as i type this from hawaii over a bluetooth dun connection from my treo (with the wifes sim in it) i had to enable the $20 plan. can't get dun to work on teh $5 plan anymore.. hopefully that answers your questions and then some. |
Who is responsible for iSync support? The phone vendors or Apple? It's silly that phones could be supported and aren't.
|
i would think it's both.

Installed the 'hack' and got the v360 phone yesterday. So far so good. I've synced USB and Bluetooth. Still wish it had native support but I can probably wait. I have 14 days to see if I want to keep this phone or if I'm going to have to get the RAZR (I like the RAZR, but the memory isn't expandable like the v360).
Thanks much folks. |
I still can't sync using Bluetooth (using USB works). Mac OS X doesn't see the 'services' the phone offers. I got it working on some PC's but not all. I have a simlock-free phone, but it's the dutch/european version. Maybe that's the difference?
My phone software version is R4513_g_08.B7.56R_A. Is that different from yours? (You can see the software version in the Settings > Phone status > Other information > S/W version). |
Who's your carrier? Verizon blocks OBEX on the phones they sell.
:D They're being sued over it. :D |
Worked on my new V360
"Just replace the MetaClasses.plist file in iSync program under By left-clicking then go to Show Package Contents (command-clicking for those who still use one-button Apple mice)"
FYI - On my computer I had to hit CONTROL - CLICK to make iSync open (not COMMAND click.) Works. Thanks for the info people! |
I'm interested in this phone, do the other bluetooth functions work with it? ie. Bluetooth file exchange, and GPRS modem? :D
|
(bump)
No? Maybe there is more work required to get modem and file xfer to work? |

(Carrier = TMobile)
I've got USB syncing working great. And bluetooth works, but when I tried to add it as another sync device under bluetooth it said 'this is already syncd via USB. Not a big deal. I like the fact that USB recharges the phone anyway. Via bluetooth, I can 'browse' and download pictures etc... from/to the phone without any problems. I've had great luck with this phone thanks to the info from here. I hope that some day that it's supported natively. Not sure what it'd take to make that happen. Letters to Motorola? Letters to Apple? |

MetaClasses not in iSync package...
I am trying to follow the hack to get a new V360 Motorola phone to communicate with my OS 10.3.9 iMac.
I chose this over the RAZR, but I could change to the RAZR. My iSync package does not have metaclasses.plist but instead info.plist. I put metaclasses in place of the info.plist and it still doesn't work. btw, the tree Contents / PlugIns / ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice / Contents / PlugIns / PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin / Contents / Resources / MetaClasses.plist does not correspond to my files in the iSync package whatsoever. Any help? |
Replacing the info.plist with the metaclasses.plist will not do any good, you have to at least replace the info.plist to its original location before continuing.
If the tree does not exist in your copy, do you have the newest version? I have version 2.1.1 here. |
iSync V 1.5 not new enough?
My guess is that my iSync 1.5 (v139) is not new enough to use this trick.
Is it safe to presume that I can only get iSync 2+ with Tiger? - WallEye |
How to pair your Motorola V360 with Address Book
I followed instructions on how to isync my V360. It works great. Thank you.
Now, I am now trying to pair my V360 with Addess Book using Bluetooth in order to be able to send SMS and pick up calls directly from my Mac. I have been trying many times and the pairing does not seem to work... Has any one succeeded in doing so? clues ? Thanks a lot PS: by the way pairing with Bluetooth assistant to send and receive files works fine. |
Easy as pie!
I just got my V360 today and all I had to do on my phone was:
Main Menu => Settings => Connection =>USB Settings Change Default Connection to "Data/Fax Connection" It showed up in iSync right away and is transferring data seamlessly. If I want to drag and drop MP3s, I just change the Default Connection to "Memory Card" and drop it into the Music folder, I believe. |
I just wanted to say thanks I did as instructed and in all of one min. it worked. You guys rock. Happy new year to all.
Thanks a million.:) ALoha, Doc Rock Moto V360 and SideKick 2 T-Mobile G5 Dual 2.5 Homebrew PC Intel 3.4(Pc does not synce with Moto Phone Tools..Macs Rule) Honolulu, Hawaii |

bluetooth
I am with T-Mobile and the wireless modem works great (Edge is quite faster than GPRS). I can also exchange files between phone-mac-phone. The only feature that I could not get to work is the pairing with Address Book...very useful for instance if you want to type SMS directly from your computer.

v360 and bluetooth
I'm really interested in this lattest set of MetaClasses, so as to enable bluetooth with the v360. However, when I click on the above link and then attempt to download the file (with Safari) I am told that I dont have permission.
Any ideas? Cheers, |
Still not working
Hello all,
I've followed all the great instructions above and changed the correct MetaClasses.plist file, set the phone to Data/Fax connection (not memory card), tried to sync and failed, then repeated this process various ways about 5 times with no luck. I'm running on an older powerbook G4 on 10.4.3 /without/ bluetooth, so I'm stuck with USB. It can see the memory card when I ask it to, and if I do a 'More Info' from the About This Mac I see all the v360 info under USB as others had posted, so I'm guessing the connection is fine. If anyone could paste their <key>com.motorola.V300</key> that might help (previous links no longer work), but I'd feel like a tool if I got that part wrong...! Thanks for your help |
Please Help
I have a V360 and need to sync it with my imac G5 via bluetooth. I need it to send photos and videos. I have no idea how to do this and cos I only got the mac last month i dont understand could someone please email me telling me how to do it at juantheman@hotmail.co.uk PLS |
Hi, I too just purchased the V360 and was looking for the image (tiff) to round out the configuration. When I went to your website I wasn't able to retrieve the image due to lack of permissions. Is there some other way I can get your v360 image?
|
Can't Download MetaClass files
I cannot access either of the MetaClass files. I, too, get a permissions error when I go to download the second MetaClass file in this post or its accompanying tiff.
|
One more time
I'm going to have to have one last crack at this - because i would really like to get my v360 working with bluetooth. So, anyone got the above files or an idea to get bluetooth going?
Thanks, |
Anyone tried this?
From macnn.com: "Nova Media today introduced its free nova media phone plug-ins software, featuring iSync support for latest mobile phones." http://www.novamedia.de/sync/ |
Well it works sort of, I was tired and I replaced both locations of the Plist file and apparently only one needs to be replaced. Now my other phone will not sync and the 360 is findable but bot syncable. I will have to restore both plist files from a backup. I think my wife is going to switch to the razr anyway. I am sure a second pass would have worked if I had pain closer attention to the dir locations.
**** Indeed I restored from a back up and all phones including the 360 work great******* Note that instructions on previous pages are correct but there are two folders that sound similar PhoneModelsSync and Phonefamily. DO NOT TOUCH PHONE FAMILY. You might want to copy/option drag to your desktop a copy of Isync so you have a back up. |
help me
Hi,
I bought a V360, tried to do the hack, bur dit not succeed. I am living in Belgium Europe, might this be a difference ? (excuse my englisch) Can anyone explain step by step what i have to do? Can anyone put on a new link to the "metaClasses.plist" or mail it to me? Thanks a lot. Gerry |
Vasimr Link works and his 360 tiff is Cool (the original link is on page 2 of thier thread, Repeated below)
http://www.glue.umd.edu/~mrclary/documents/MOTV360/ Note that instructions on previous pages and below are correct but there are two folders that sound similar PhoneModelsSync and Phonefamily. DO NOT TOUCH PHONE FAMILY. You might want to copy/option drag to your desktop a copy of Isync so you have a back up Repeated Instructions from Above.... P.S. Your English is great and your phone should be the same as far as I know (your spelling like mine can be assisted via Control Clicking and spell check). P.P.S For those who are not aware command-clicking = Control Click (at least on a powerbook). |
Help me once again
Good evening from Europe.
Thanks for the help you posted, i tried eveything wrote, but still it does nog work. When i launch isync, it detects my phone, it even shows its name but says that "isync is unable to connect to this divice - phone (or something like that, the message is in dutch) Maybe one of the settings on the phone is not OK, but i went through the manual and could get no idea what iw was doing wrong. Could somebody please help me once again ?? Thank you verry much |
Are you sure you put the MetaClasses.plist in the correct folder...
"PhoneModelsSync" and NOT PHONE FAMILY." I made that mistake, got the exact same symtoms and had to restore the whole Isync folder from a back up and reboot. FYI: Phone of Course has to be in discoverible mode, and you may have to use the Blue tooth set up assistant directly instead of via Isync. Lastly if I remember correctly when the Blue Tooth assisant asks for a type of device to set up put in on ANY , NOT phone. |
Help me twice again
Hello,
I am verry disapointed. I tried everything, but no succes. Maybe the V360 is not the same in europe than in the US. Bluetooth detects the phone, even makes a "coupling" and a "connection". But when i start isync, isync says it is not able to communicate. I was wondering where or when you define what isync has to syncronise between your adressbook on the mac en with your phone. When do you tell to only take phone numebers and no e-mail adresses... thanks Gerry |
Gary
what version of isync are you using. I don't know if this has been asked already but if not it seems that this crack will only work with the newest version 2.1.1 As for the reason that I found this post. I have been able to sync my v360 however I deleted one of my numbers and tried to re-sync it to my phone. To add the number back and it would not work. I even tried reentering the info in apple's address book. It is if either my phone or isync knows that that number has been on my phone before and will not sync it again. Dose anyone have any ideas? Thanks allot jacob |
****Gary Once you select the device in Isync App, not the Isync menu you get to choose your prefernces as to which address book and what is synced. And Jacobs thought about OSX and Isync version is highly relevant.
***Jacob As to the matter of the phone number on ** Some Moto phones only entries in the address book will sync not what is on the phone (aka the address book is master). This was the case for my v330 but not the 360 which did the bi-directional thing fine. ****Jacob As far under your problem with specefic Phone numbers, Apple as a solution, Under the Devices menu you can reset device wiping out the Phones internal address book and replacing it with the one in the Apple address book. |
good evening from europe..
i finally had some succes.. but not with bluetooth. i bought the correct usb cable, and then teh connection succeded. i managed to put a lot of data from my adressbook on the v360. But now i encounter the folowing problem. As in my adressbook some contacts are marked as "firm" or "company" (i don't know how it is on an english version) but this is not on the phone. Furhter as in my adressbook, all contacts are "family name - first name", on the V360, everything is sorted by the first name. Isn't it possible to make a setting somewhere that on the V360 it has to be by "company-family name-first name" and if no company "family name - first name" (or is fist name = christian name?) Thanks |
Gerry you never reported back on your computer system model, os, sync version etc.... In case you want Bluetooth to work too.
To answer your question you would best served making a new Address book in the AppleAddress book Application, Dragging/copying the addresses to that address book and editing them to be the way you want on the phone. Then sync again with the new address book. Of course you could edit the original but I assume that the first one is organized that way on purpose. Note you may need to use Isync Reset Device to wipe all the entries if you get dupes. Note it is always a good idea for everyone to back up/save as their address books. There is also a preference feature where you add or remove fields but I am not sure what it would do with a field that has data in it. With this feature you could more closely line up the fields between books. And In Isync itself you can choose what fields sync. |
Hello Anthlover,
sorry to forget to mention these things: I use an iBOOK, Computernaam: iBook Computermodel: PowerBook4,3 Processortype: PowerPC 750 (1.2) I tried to use an usb bleutooth stick. I will try your hint to make a special group, and sync with this group only. Thanks Gerry |
So it seems the consensus is that the hack works, yes? I just want to check before I acutally get the phone. I was perfectly happy with my Nokia 6600 until I lost it like an idiot. The only other Nokia T-Mobile offers now doesn't have bluetooth, and I'm stuck with them to get the re-sign discount...
Do multiple phone numbers for contacts in Address book show up the correct way in the phone? i.e. Not as multiple contacts? Also, do pictures associated with contacts in Address book transfer over with this hack? Thanks! |
Anyone have a definitive yes or no on whether this works? And whether the above options work correctly?
|
Good evening from europe,
On my phone it finally works with an USB cable, not with Bluetooth. But as you can read I am not sattisfied by the way the transfer is organised. I had difficulties with organizing "company names; last names;... On my phone everything was sorted by "first name" etc. I found on this forum another issue about syncronizing an other motorola. I followed the link http://www.onmadesoft.com/index.html and installed the program (freeware?) For me it works fine. It can communicate with the V360, you can install wich data you want to transfer, how you want it to look, you can adjust the how you want your numbers and e-mail adresses to look like (like international numbers etc) What it does not do is transfer adresses from adressbook into the phone, pictures i do not know, i do not use it. I transferred aubout 800 contacts. It took me maybe one hour, but this is still less than doing this 800 contacts one by one by hand. Put your phone on primary contacts. For each person you have to difine which number is the primary contact. (this i could not find how to organise) Never the less, I am more satisfied from this program than doing it with iSync. Hope this helps.... Gerry |

As to how they show up, you can either have every line item show up as an entry. Example: John Doe 515-555-1234 John Doe John.Doe@somewhere.tld John Doe 515-555-4321 Or you can tell it you only want to see the 'primary' contact information for each person. This amounts to it choosing a primary entry for each person (which you can change). When you select someone you can cycle through all the entries for that person. Example: John Doe 515-555-1234 And if you selected that you could scroll down and see the email and other phone number. [edit: Forgot about your other question, so answered below] Pictures do NOT transfer on this version. |

Has anyone got the Address Book bluetooth pairing to work?
My Address Book shows the pairing window after clicking the bluetooth-symbol. After selecting the V360 on the list, clicking "Pair" and typing in the connection key, the pairing window says "Pairing succesfull" and exits. But the bluetooth-symbol doesn't light up and it doesn't work. No matter how many times I do the pairing. Everything else works great after following the instructions given here. |
A few things:
One often needs to shut off their blue tooth headset, One often needs to reboot their phone sometimes one has to delete the old pairing on the phone side I initiate the pairing after making the phone discoverable and then Go to the blue tooth set up assistant: Set up a device and set it to any. *Works under 10.46 too (Though I think Apple provides thier own driver now). I just repaired my wife's v360 backing up first as recommended and then installing 10.46 |
isync tiff
I am looking for a v360 tiff file to use with isync. the link that is earlier in this thread is not working for me. dose anyone have an image they would be willing to share?
thanks |
