What could this mean!!??
I got a excited when I read this.
What could it be? My guess is its either a flash-based iPod mini or regular iPod, or both. It could also be a video iPod, or maybe the iTunes phone, but I wouldn't hold my breath for those two. Talk of the iTunes phone as been flying for how long? Maybe it will be an Apple made iPod phone. That would be better than an iTunes phone. :) Thoughts? Jim. |
I personaly will not venture into guessing this... Most sources are confusing as I think even they are not sure at all what to expect at this event... So I'm gonna sit down and see rather than guess since the list of possibilities is longer than the list of lawsuits against Microsoft.... lol

hmmmn.... I think video's being sold through itunes is a safe bet.. NO new music vids have been put on the UK store in months...
They have to do the iphone/Motorola soon..... I think it is probiably something different all together...... possibly Apple and Dell getting together to sell OSX PC's !!!!! (o dear god I hope not) Possibly the first Intel Mac months ahead of schedule?!! how about AutoCad for OSX? or VideoChat in MSN Messenger! how about a 4 gig flash based ipod shuffle with a digital display.. :D |
Prediction: Four new Apples
.
Here is my guess – a brave launch of four new Apple products: 1.) A mobile video player, call it iPod video if you wish. 2.) The launch of a huge library of music videos on iTunes Music Store, in one fell swoop. (With full-fledged movies coming within a year) 3.) Flash-based iPod with greater capacity, perhaps even 4 Gb. 4.) iPhone – a mobile phone with decent memory (flash-based and at least 1 Gb), integrating an MP3/AAC player, and perhaps even decent video. Tri-band so it can be sold almost anywhere in the world. If they launch the latter at a decent price, Apple/Motorola will sell every cellular phone their licensed factories can crank out. An instant world hit! With best regards, ArcticStones PS. For Apple there would be a further advantage: the Wow factor. They need to prove decisively to the market that they are innovating now, introducing lucrative must-have gadgets. This will satisfy/distract a lot of people while we are waiting for the new, Intel-embracing Macs. And there is no better way to gain a decisive market share, than by being the first serious player in that new market. |
A media player! Thats brilliant! It will be another iPod type thing, for about $300. It can play a range of video formats, but probably not WMV. It will also play music, have a calander, an organizer, an address book, a clock, etc. It will probably have a very Mac OSesque look to it. And they will at the same time launch and iTunes video store. This will produce another "halo" effect.
But thats just a prediction. In regards to the Apple-Dell agreement, I woun't count on it. Althought that would be pretty cool, The invitation said, "1,000 songs in your pocket changed everything. Here we go again." So it probably has something to do with media. But it would be cool to hear something about Mac OS. They are doing this now so Steve Jobs can mention it in his Keynote on the 20th. He might announce something new to do with it. |
Apple announces 5 Tb iPod Movie
Quote:
“Apple has just announced a new version of iPod movie. The new media player claims "1000 movies in your pocket", featuring a 5 Tb drive. It also features improvements on its revolutionary soft-screen, an unfoldable high-resolution screen available in a number of sizes – and which amazingly unfolds without a wrinkle or bend, thanks to the "shape memory" of the screen’s 3 micron thick background material. In addition to the standard, personal 8-inch screen, the soft-screen is available in sizes ranging up to 72 inches. The larger screens come with convenient wall attachments. In cooperation with major movie studios, Apple has also announcing a choice of 5 different movie packets, one of which apparently contains “The Best 1000 Classic Movies of the 20th century”. These are available pre-loaded. In addition, of course, Apple has expanded the offerings on its iTMS Movie Store, where users can purchase movies from the most comprehensive on-line movie database on the planet. With this amazing move, Apple is expected to increase it’s share of the online digital movie market beyond it’s current 70 percent share." :D Sign me up! With best regards, ArcticStones |

Here's my guess.
Software: iFlix for managing movie collections. Hardware: iFlix TV, like Airport Express only it connects to the TV not the stereo. This device will play movies from your iFlix collection over the TV. It will have 4GB of Flash memory in it, enough to hold a movie or two. It will connect to your Mac via Ethernet or Airport. Online: The iFlix store. You rent a movie, it downloads to your iFlix and you are allowed to play it three times before the file disappears. You are allowed to keep three rented movies on your HD and no more, kind of like Netflix. The movies can be watched on your Mac or streamed to the module on your TV. The sales pitch: You decide what movie you want to watch before dinner. By the time dinner is over the system has downloaded enough of the movie so that you can start watching. The movie will finish downloading before you get to the end. The catch: You will need a very fast internet connection to do this. Most DSL connections won't be fast enough. The reality: People will download their movies overnight. They will watch a movie, delete it from their system, decide what they want to rent next, and start the download before they go to bed. |

It is beyond me how Hollywood can invest 100 million dollars or more, time and again, without insisting on spending sufficient money for a decent script. – ArcticStones PS. Did you hear about the quarterback who was so quick that he could correct his errors on the Instant Replay? :D |
Paying millions for a movie without a decent script is what Hollywood likes... All the money goes to them and not the people who come up with ideas. The reason why so many wirters are poor too...
And lets be honnest... Eye candy sells more that a real story cause when you look at previews, all you see is images, not how good the plot is ;) Its wrong but its the Hollywood way. Looks before brain. At least many of them use Macs cause they look good too ! :D |
Plotless masterpieces by Godfrey Reggio

Koyaanisqatsi and Powaqqatsi At some point I hope to see the last in is “Qatsi” trilogy: Naqoyqatsi In my opinion, these films are masterpieces. The images are overwhelming, whether in beauty, intensity or sheer relentless impact. (I would definitely not call it eye-candy!) And with the ever-present music of Philip Glass, the viewing is unforgettable. Check them out! Reggio proves that it is possible to make powerful films with very different effects, and based on radically different premises, than your standard movie. With best regards, ArcticStones PS. Sorry, Pantherman, we’re way off topic, on a tangent of a tangent – but it’s a worthwhile one. ;) |
Agreed that not all movies are as I described... I was talking about main stream hollywood ones that only rely on things such as violence, flashy animation... A movie can be extremely beautifull and interesting even with no plot or dialog... An example of this is the movie that follwos the life of some penguins... It was a hit, extremely captivating, interesting, breathtaking, but the is no plot... As always there are exceptions in the crowd of crappy movies.

1000 songs on your phone
Perhaps tomorrow Apple will announce:
“1000 songs on your phone”. Didn’t they just get an amazing offer on flash memory from Samsung? Perhaps they’re putting some of the large ones in the iPhone. – ArcticStones |
I read a rumor that said they will announce a new color, flash based iPod mini, in 4, 6, and 8 GB sizes and they are going to unveil the new iTunes phone and will be partnering with Cingular, which is good news for me, since that is my carrier. ;)
Oh, and on a sad note, Apple says there will be no Keynote at the Paris Expo this year from Steve. |
When is the Press Event?
Does anyone know the exact time of the Apple event?
And whether it is being streamed online by Apple, or anyone else? – ArcticStones |
The answer is 1pm EST.
|
I personally dont care about songs or iTunes in a phone but since
most phones, including the nokia I'm using now, are designed for martians, an Apple designed phone will not only look good but also very easy to use. |
The phone is being made by Motorola.

I like the new iPod, regret buying the shuffle. |
Here in the office when I showed the new iPod on the Apple site, I distinctly heard some swearing from people who have been buying minis and shuffles... :D
|
Well, there it is folks. The iTunes Phone ( Finally! ), the iPod nano ( I can't help but laugh when I say that name ) and iTunes 5, which has a new interface and some other improvements. I am glad that my Cingular contract expired, so I can get the iTunes phone! :)
