Still not working...

I installed the driver for the 1022, but when I go to "add printer" in system requirements, nothing shows up. It searches automatically using rendezvous, and twice now it's said "driver found" but then given me nothing, the rest of the time it shows nothing. I've switched to USB, because that's how the printer's connected, and nothing shows. Am I doing something wrong?

Laserjet 1022 drivers ok!

Hi all,

Thanks for the hint. I can confirm that by installing the Laserjet 1022 the 1020 model works perfectly. As somebody here pointed out when you install the 1022 drivers, the first window of the setup clearly says that you're about to install the 1020 drivers.

Go figure it out, but anyway who cares, the printer works.

Thanks for the helo everyone,
Ricky

laserjet 1022 drivers for 1020

The laserjet 1022 drivers work perfectly with the laserjet 1020. I don't know why HP doesn't recommend this. I just purchased a 1020 printer from Staples for $99.98.

salle78 02-22-2006 02:50 PM

Wanna hear something weird, I purchased a 1020 today (in Sweden) and on the CD that comes with the printer it says "HP LaserJet 1020" but when I put it in my mac, the title of the CD is "hp LaserJet 1022 Series" and contains the file "hp LaserJet 1020 Series.pkg". So I guess HP is shipping the 1022-driver with the 1020 printer, kind of strange when you read the answer from HP support that tomjay got (above). Or maybe they have tested/fixed the driver to work perfectly with the 1020 the last months.

I also want to have the printer connected to a PC and print from my Mac over the network, will try the Zenographics Mono SDK driver that extstudios where using...

Anyhow, it works over the network. Crisp and clear. Just thought I'd let you guys know.

I can't get it to work, I have installed the Zenographics-driver and connected the printer to my mac and it works. Then I connected it back to the PC och tried to add a IP Printer in "Printer Setup Utility" on my Mac. Typed in the IP of the PC in Address and "HP Jet Direct" as protocol and "Generic PostScript Printer", but no luck.

What protocol should I use?
What printer in "Print Using:"?
Do I need to do something special in windows other that share the printer and set that everyone can print?

I too have my HP1020 connected to an XP pro machine. I downloaded and installed the Zenographics driver and installed (on the mac). When I add printer through printer setup utility and browse to it through default browser/more printers/window printing/network neighborhood, I can see the printer HP laserjet 1020 but when I select it, the zeno driver is not listed as a choice. What should I do from here? I can't print to the HP1020?

Any help would be much appreciated.

need help PLEASE

Hello! I had to purchase a Laser Jet 1020 today because I need a laser that could print onto plastic-type surface cards [long horrible printer-screw up story], and this was the only one that would do it without melting the cards.

Since the System Req. didn't include Mac, I did a quick online search before I purchased the printer, and found this forum [thanks!]. I bought the printer, downloaded the driver from HP as you all have done- the printer shows up, I can select it, I can send a doc. to the printer...then NOTHING. The printer just closes down and says "printing stopped."

ANY SUGGESTIONS? I am still using OS 10.3.9, have not upgraded to 10.4 yet, is this perhaps the problem?

Sometimes my HP Business InkJet 1100 does the same thing. I just press the "Start Printing" button in the print status windows.
Did you try this?

I got it to work! Following this excellent guide:
How to Use a Printer Attached to a Windows XP Computer in Mac OS X
http://iharder.sourceforge.net/macosx/winmacprinter/

The zenographics-driver is not needed. Since the HP LaserJet 1020 is not a "all-PostScript printer" you need some software on the windows machine to rasterizes PostScript, the software is Ghostscript, GSview and RedMon. Just follow the guide above.

(I am using Windows 2000, not XP and then you have to read the part "Update: RedMon and Default User" in the guide.)

Wow, thank god for this thread!
I too ordered this printer online for $110 and then realized after I had it it wasn't mac supported. I use an HP laserjet 1200 at work and I just assumed this one would work as well.
Anyway, the disk I got with the printer had no mac info/drivers on it whatsoever.
Downloaded the 1022 driver as suggested, restarted, did a printer utitily reset, and bonjour saw and added the 1020 printer with no problem when it was connected to my extreme basestation.

Network printing works fast and well with this printer.

I'm one happy dude :D

Need HP Laserjet 1020 driver for OS 9 Classic in OSX

I am using an HP LaserJet 1020 with Mac OS 10.3.9. The LaserJet 1022 Print Driver works flawlessly with the 1020 printer. Does anyone know of a Print Driver that will allow me to print from applications that are running in OS 9 Classic? Please let me know.
Thanks.
Dan

I installed the 1022 driver, rebooted multiple times, and I couldn't get the 1020 or 1022 to show up in the list in the Printer Setup Utility. To solve this, I moved everything from /Library/Printers/hp/laserjet/1020Series/ up to /Library/Printers/hp/laserjet/ Then I went back to the Printer Setup Utility and OSX found it right away. I also reset printing in the Printer Setup Utility menu a few times, don't know if this was necessary or not. Hope this helps you, Apintrix.

sharing with Windows?

I have followed the instructions here and gotten my mac mini working with my HP LaserJet 1020. Yay! When I share the printer on the network and then connect windows xp to it, printing doesn't work from windows. Everything in Windows says "printing...done!", but the printer never does anything. (10.4.latest)

Has anyone shared this printer (on a mac) with a windows xp machine?

HP pulls 1022 driver

I just downloaded the driver from hp's web site on Tuesday when I received my G5 back from repair. Unfortunately I did not keep the driver image, because when I went to hp's web site today, the OS X link was gone from the 1022 download page! I called hp asking where the driver was, but the tech support person said they did not know why the link was pulled.

I think I am in the same position as some others. I just bought the HP1020 and I am looking for the 1022 driver but it seems HP has removed it from their download page. I did find one for the 1022n but that doesn't seem to work. Any idea on others sites/places that may have the driver available for download? Thanks in advance.

An incorrect driver voiding the warranty? Whoever heard of such a thing!

The jerks now appear to have removed teh 1022 driver from their website. I too just bought this thing and would like to avoid taking it back.

Has anyone got a copy of the 1022 driver they might be kind enough to send me?

Many thanks.

Looks like a recent change (05-2006), allowing you to order the installer CD for 1020/1022 from HP web site for a shipping charge.

Can anyone send the file: "LJ_1022_Series_OSX.dmg" to:

meta_lj AT yahoo DOT com

Thanks. That would be great.

wgscott 05-22-2006 11:39 AM

I found it:

It is still on their ftp site even though it is not on their website.

ftp://ftp.hp.com:/pub/softlib/softwa...Series_OSX.dmg

Now if I can only get Printer Setup to recognize it.

Grrr.
