Meh. Maybe they'll start making keyboards with an "Any" key.

There may indeed be an "Any" key on the Paris Hilton personalized keyboard.

I thought they were ALL labeled "Any" on her keyboard? :)

Surely someone put that in the FAQ as a joke. Please, God, let that be true.

Now, what precisely changed in the technology of the "any" key that would require updating the FAQ?!?

Maybe that's when Compaq started selling handhelds so they had to add that part? :confused:

If you are writing new dialogs:

"Press any key to continue or any other key to quit"

"Press any key except that one to continue."

"Read Error. Press any key to format drive or enter any 27-digit prime number to cancel."

And my all-time favourite (boot an intel machine without a keyboard to see it)

"Bad or missing keyboard. Press any key* to continue"

*sometimes says 'F1'

Actually, I think it usually says 'Keyboard Error. Press F1 to continue.' these days.

I can top that message, though. At my last job, the network guys sent out an email to the entire company that said something like "We have been having trouble with the email system, but we believe it has been resolved. If you are still having trouble with your email, please contact the help desk (helpdesk@thecompany.com). Thank you." :confused:

Ages ago I remember a television ad for the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the BLIND) that finished with "Call the number on your screen....."

And then there was the VCR that came with an instructional videotape on how to set up and use the VCR...

The Shaven Yak was a minor character on the Ren & Stimpy Show. I honestly don't know what made me choose that as my online name, but I use it just about everywhere.

The other day I was working on a VoIP phone system installation, and found that we could not dial toll-free numbers. I pick up the phone to dial the vendor's support line and...

Oh, we've all done that, or similar. Like picking up a cordless phone in an attempt to report a power outage. :rolleyes:

Or you say to a customer, "Now you need to reboot your Mac" and the line goes dead.

It's not a good idea to call support on a line connected through the computer that you're having problems with...
