Glad you got it sorted - but a very expensive way to go about it!

I ended up getting a whole new system - something I was going to do anyway. The new systems runs like a dream and I'm loving it.

I took the old Powerbook into the shop and had them run diagnositics on it and they couldn't find anything wrong - no hardware problems.

I brought the PB home and did another erase and install of Tiger. Since re-installing Tiger, I haven't been able to produce the same problem.

Sooooo - what's up with that I'm wondering.

Hope you bought Apple Care too. It's well worth it :D

Worth it?

I'd say mandatory.

Check the price on replacing a SuperDrive or HD.

My current AlBook is on its second HD, my TiBook has a toasted CD drive (no AC, dagnabit).
