Fight! Fight! Fight!

Have you heard of GoogleFight?

More proof that MacOSXHints kicks ass!!

Enjoy! :)

Craig R. Arko 04-07-2005 12:29 PM

Thanks; I was wondering why my foot hurt. :)

Google does that spidering at night, right? I wonder if that's the source of some of the performance issues in the wee hours.

TazmanDman 04-07-2005 12:36 PM

For kicks I put in "Steve Jobs" and "Bill Gates" - Jobs lost by a slim margin

yellow 04-07-2005 12:38 PM

I'm not sure... Could be.

I'm not finding the answer at google.com, but I'm still looking.

Right now most of the problems I'm having with the site are related to the adservice.

Hey, I kick ass too! :)

In the meantime, this GoogleFight web page can be fun! :)

Yep, it's REALLY close.

Craig R. Arko 04-07-2005 12:43 PM

'Tiger' beats 'Longhorn' quite handily.

yellow 04-07-2005 01:30 PM

Oooo Tiger beats Panther!

hayne 04-07-2005 01:37 PM

"GoogleFight" slightly beats "Watching paint dry":

:)

yellow 04-07-2005 02:00 PM

But GoogleFight gets POUNDED by "Waste of time" :)

yellow 04-07-2005 03:37 PM

Good news for all geeks!

Phil St. Romain 04-07-2005 04:33 PM

That's kind of fun, all right. :)

rotero 04-07-2005 05:16 PM

Good triumphs over Evil.

vancenase 04-07-2005 06:57 PM

hmmmmm ....

Twelve Motion 04-07-2005 10:31 PM

What exactly is it calculating?

yellow 04-07-2005 11:54 PM

The amount of Google search hits.

macmath 04-08-2005 12:26 AM

Some of the results are very surprising. I'm guessing that its counting web pages indexed by each or something like that. So I tried a few that might be counterintuitive.

Apple beats Dell

computers beat sex

programming beats sex

While the first one might be reasonable, even just counting the number of pages devoted to the rise and fall of Apple, the last two are surprising (given the numbe of pages devoted to the latter).

hitsuzen 04-08-2005 06:20 AM

I can't believe I spent a half hour at this page when I have so much stuff to do.
and yesterday I was wasting time with this YaGoohoo!gle search engine.
Thanks for the much needed distraction ;)

robot_guy 04-08-2005 07:46 AM

"OS X" beats "OS 9" by about a 35-1 ratio. ;)

You know what? I agree! :-)

Craig R. Arko 04-08-2005 08:31 AM

Now I know something is seriously wrong with the web:

Paris Hilton beats Catherine Zeta-Jones.

dappy 04-08-2005 09:45 AM

Of course we all knew this already

mkoreiwo 04-08-2005 10:08 AM

RE: Paris vs. Catherine Z. ....

I'm not to sure i disagree... On the "Class" end Zeta-Jones hands down... But I recall seeing CZJ somewhere and she looked absolutely dreadful!!! So much so I wouldn't have given her a second glance.... While Paris looks OK most of the time, to me she just looks strange somehow....

And of course, Paris is all surface flash and porn video fame.... So I would give the nod to CZJ as well.

There's no accounting for taste, one way or the other.....

weltonch777 04-08-2005 11:45 AM

Here's another one...

Not surprising. It's just like "Windows" vs. "Mac OS." You'll get more Windows hits because there are more users of Windows, much as there are more users of Paris Hilton. And you gotta admit, her interfaces seem to offer unlimited and easy connectivity. Like Windows, you have to watch out for viruses.

What's the fun in that?

CAlvarez 04-09-2005 01:51 PM

This is closer to a fair and comparable fight:

http://www.googlefight.com/index.php...izabeth+hurley

And it is interesting that the results are mixed, as would be my own choice, if in a parallel universe I were blessed with such a choice.

ArcticStones 04-09-2005 07:52 PM

Well, you might be please to know that "Yellow" beat "CAlvarez" and "ArcticStones" by about a zillion to one. :D

ArcticStones 04-09-2005 07:57 PM

Hey, what do you know?

George Bush beats Jesus Christ by a 3-1 margin!?

http://www.googlefight.com/index.php...d2=George+Bush

PS. Moderators, no, that is not political. No, honest, please...

weltonch777 04-10-2005 12:08 AM

"Pope John Paul II" beats "Jesus Christ" (both in quotes) by over 2 : 1 ! :o

Twelve Motion 04-10-2005 08:29 AM

"LOL" knocks the crap out of "WTF"

See

macmath 04-10-2005 09:21 AM

Ok, so this was set up to win, but...

"MacOSXHints Forums" beats "any other forum" by more than 3 to 1.

ArcticStones 04-15-2005 12:35 PM

Firefox beats Internet Explorer

There is reason for hope; Firefox beats "Internet Explorer".
Yeahh! Way to go!
:D

Raven 04-15-2005 01:03 PM

"Work" beats anything it seems... laziness, boredom, dooing nothing, lolll
