Yep, I have emailed them (although their web technical area also seems to be down)

I just noticed this happening over the weekend. I thought at first it was a problem related to Standard 9.01, because I had just recently downloaded it onto my new iBook. But I went back to the Expander version from the restore disks, and still have the problem. I remember the update checking working in the last week or so, hopefully it'll get fixed soon but on the other hand, I don't really care about having the latest version until I get a file the older one won't open, so I'll probably turn off the update checking too.

As a fairly recent convert to MacOS... am I missing out on anything not having the latest and greatest Stuffit?

I just got off the phone with Allume, they are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it. The only work around is the one stated above.
