Also, before re-installing, could you look i your Console under /var/logs and post the log for when you last tryied to use mail... May provide some clue.

Thanks. Reinstalled with Pacifist. No dice. Under var/logs there are to entries for mail: 1) mail.log (which is blank); and 2) mail.log.0.gz. Here are the contents for the second entry: Dec 20 15:46:12 localhost postfix/postqueue[357]: warning: Mail system is down -- accessing queue directly.

The 00010 divert 8668 ip from any to any via en1 part is dropping any packets coming to your computer on that port, could cause the problem.

Nope. The ports are 465 and 995.

Can you use a port scan (included in Applications/Utilities/Network Utility) and hit either of those ports? On my mail server doing a port scan from 995 to 995 responds

Also, have you tried connecting with any other mail program? Mozilla has a good free mail application (Thunderbird) you could try out.
