How to fix "error = #1852402768"???
I have the following setup:
OS X.3.4 with Palm Desktop 4.2.1 and iSync 1.4 and a Palm Vx. At the end of every syncronisation the get the following error in the log: Code:
OK BackupAny idea what that means and how I can solve this? |
I think I recall getting something similar and it turned out to be obsolete versions of some of the conduits that were not removed when I installed the new Palm software. So go into your conduits folder and look at what you have there, paying close attention to the dates & versions. Move suspicious one out of the way and try again.
|
Hayne, thanks. I will have a look tomorrow in a quite moment and report back.
|
I moved all non-essential conduits out of the way with only the iSync Conduit left. Even with just one in the list, it reports the error.
Any ideas? |

Any help? There's loads more to be got from Google searching under "Error = #1852402768" |
Bramley, thanks for your suggestion.
I had already found this article as I have also googled for this subject. The article refers to OS 9.x and I am running the latest version of Palm Desktop and OS X.3.4. Google has so far yet to provide me with a solution. |

I don't use iSync so can't help with that. The conduits I currently have (with Palm Desktop 4.2.1 and a Tungsten T3) are: AcroConduit Address Conduit Backup Conduit Calendar Conduit Contacts Conduit Datebook Conduit DocsToGoConduit Install Conduit Memo Conduit Memos Conduit Microsoft Entourage Conduit Note Pad Conduit Photos Conduit Tasks Conduit ToDo Conduit Voice Memo Conduit |
Thanks hayne, I have some of these as well, but moved them out of the way a long time ago. I fear now that it is some problem with the combination of Palm Desktop and iSync.
|
I also had this problem and have a solution that worked for me.
Open the HotSync Software setup window and go to the "Connection Settings" tab. Since I was using only the USB Connection, I removed the check mark from the PalmConnect connection and tried again. That corrected the error problem. |
Also getting error
I am getting a similar error (see log below). I have tried all the suggestions in this forum, including turning off all except the USB connection. I am running 10.3.5, HotSync 3.2 and iSync 1.5 (v139)

I ran across this this week with a user. Did you change any permissions in your User folder or anywhere else on the machine ? Even if your not sure, I would repair permissions... I know I know.. some will say that this has nothing to do with what the message says, but the error number is the same, and the problem was with a palm synch too, and permissions were the solution.
One of the reasons this is is because part of the palm synching info actually gets stored in the users folder, in Documents and Library... Hiope this helps ! |

Oups... forgot... Then just make sure that all permissions in your user folder is set so that you can read and write... (Thanks Yellow... guess I wasn't fully awake yet earlier... What I did with the user is smanually rset properly permissons to the proper ones in her user foldersd, and also did a repair permissons after, just in case she had screwed up other things...)

Check in the Library/Application Support/Palm Hot Sync folder to be sure all the conduits are in the Conduits folder rather than the Disabled Conduits Folder.
|
Sieber: I have tried this as well.
Raven: I have checked all the permissions to the various Palm files. Everything ok. Irene: I have checked that all original conduits plus the Apple conduit were in the folder and the "Disabled Conduits Folder" was removed. I have tried all this above and still have the problem. It has not yet gone away.:( |
Did you check all the parent folders in which the items are or just the files themselves ? For the case I was refering to, we had checked the Palm tools files before, but everything was fine.

Conflict Notifier
Hi, I've had the same message syncing up my wife's T3 to our imac FP running OS 10.3.5.
I went to Library/Application Support/Palm HotSync and then I noticed the Notifiers folder! Inside is, you guessed it, the conflict notifier. Get info reveals: Conflict Notifier Kind: HotSync Manager Document Size: 132 KB . . . Version: Conduit Conflict Notifier version 1.0, copyright 2003 palmOne, inc. I've pulled this out to the desktop and the error message has vanished. I can't find "conflict notifier" in a search of Palmone's site. What is this document? Why dosen't it work right? What risk am I at by disabling it? Cheers, scotm |

I hope in the future Palm could shed some light on this. |
This worked for me
I contacted Palm directly, and got this: the only extra step was to download an install iSynch palm Conduit 1.2 from Apple. Everything now works just fine
We understand you have some difficulties performing a HotSync® operation. We suggest that you completely uninstall your palmOne™ desktop and reinstall it afterwards. However, please create a backup copy of your palmOne™ users folder. To create a backup copy of your current palmOne™ handheld information on the computer, do the following: Note: I suggest you perform a HotSync® operation first, so the information is up-to-date before backing up the Users folder. If you use Palm Desktop 4.1 or the latest Palm Desktop software, do the following: 1.***** Open your Macintosh® Hard Drive. Open the Users folder. Double-click on the House Icon of the same name of your user login. Open the Documents folder. Open the Palm folder. Select the Users folder, click the file menu, and then select Duplicate. This should make a Users Copy folder. Select the Users Copy folder and drag it to your desktop You should now see a backup copy of your Users folder (as 'Users Copy') on the desktop. If you do not see a backup, please repeat steps one through four, until the backup is visible. If you have more than one Palm handheld user synchronizing their information using the same computer, their information should be included within the Users Copy folder. Uninstall Palm desktop by following the instructions from the link below: http://kb.palmone.com Search for Solution ID# 5916 After complete un-installation, if you don’t have the installation CD or if you are using the latest Palm Desktop. Open Finder. Type “PALM” then click Find. Trash all found Palm Files Empty trash Restart your computer before reinstalling the palmOne™ Desktop Software. To install the Palm Desktop software on a Macintosh operating system, perform the following procedure: Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive. The Install icon appears. If you downloaded the installer use the downloaded installer. Double-click the Install icon to open the corresponding window. Double-click the icon representing the Palm MacPac v2 Installer. A window indicating that you are entering the Palm Desktop software appears. Click CONTINUE. Proceed through the following windows until you come to the Palm Installer window. We recommend that you choose the Easy Install option. In the upper-left corner of the window, open the dropdown menu and select Easy Install if you would like the Macintosh OS to install all the applications associated with your Palm Desktop. If you wish to customize your installation with your own preferences, select Custom Install. From the list of installation options, select the applications that you want to accompany your Desktop software. Click the Install button in the lower-left corner of the window. A window appears, asking you to determine where you would like to install your Palm Desktop software. Select a location and click Install at the bottom right corner of the window. An Installation confirmation appears, followed by a window prompting you to set up your HotSync(r) software. Choose a user name, and select which port you wish to plug the HotSync cradle into. Click Save & Restart, located at the bottom of the window. Your Macintosh now restarts with the Palm Desktop software fully installed. * |
Yup - same message since reverting from 10.3.7 to 10.3.5 and reinstalling Palm desktop. Tried turning off the palmconnect in the connection settings to no avail. Then tried dragging out the Conduit conflict notifier and the error message went away. Have to say that it left me nervous - if there IS a conflict presumably I should know about it. I did wonder about having a Memo conduit AND a Memos conduit (one enabled one disabled) but dragging them out didn't seem to help. Over to you Palm ?
|
I vaguely recall having some problem with a "conflict" when I started using Palm Sync on Panther. As I recall, I figured out that the problem was due to the Palm installer not removing some obsolete conduits from my previous installation. I started fresh (moved my Palm folder elsewhere temporarily and reinstalled) and all was well.
|
I had the same problem, and tracked it down to two files which were not properly installed by the Installer: HotSync Libraries and Palm Conduit Library.cfm. I finally revert to manually coping those files from an older system to their correct place: /Library/CFMSupport/.
