Don't forget, Butler also has the dictionary and thesaurus ,Fedex tracking, weather and much more in the same search box with Google in the menu bar.

I'm really diggin' Quicksilver.

Running into a small snag though and maybe someone in this thread can help since so many people are using it.

I can't get the clipboard to clear in Quicksilver. I can clear it but it doesn't get rid of clipping 0 and when I relaunch the clipboard all the spaces are filled again with what I cleared. It's just filled and won't add any new copies. Any suggestions on this one? Thanks.

How do you install Butler. When I saved -butler.dmg.gz, double clicking on it doesn't mount it. Stuffit opens and close without doing anything?
Any suggestions.

I don't know what browser you're using, but I know that when I used to download Butler updates with Firefox I would have similar issues as yours. When I download the file with Safari, however, the disk image mounts perfectly. If you are NOT using Safari, I would recommend you use it for the Butler download.

I tried with Safari. Still the same problem?

Anybody know how to turn off/remove the menubar items for Butler, or uninstall the app all together?

To turn off the menu bar items in Butler you need to remove any top level items and put everything in the invisible folder. Any other folders will appear as menus. you can disable Butler just by going into the config page and pressing quit. Obviously if you have set it as a startup item you need to take that out too.

If you are having trouble getting into the config page look at the manual, as I can't remember what the default key combo is to pull up the preferences window. I have it as the first item in my control panels menu.

Bottom line is, this is a powerful bit of software and it pays to read the documentation to get a fuller understanding of things.

I also note that clearing the clipboard keeps clipping 0 and that relaunching restores the clipboard. It probably writes back to the disk/preferences when you quit. Only going into ~/Library/Application Support/QuickSilver/Shelves and deleting QSPasteboardHistory.qsshelf gave me a clean clipboard. However, I don't have your other problem. Once mine fills, the last one is removed as I add a new one. As long as I can always add new ones, then I don't think I'll care if the old clippings are still on the clipboard. Only if some clippings contain sensitive material would I care I guess...in which case I could delete the clippings file mentioned above, or quickly copy to the clipboard 10 quick 'dummy' clippings.

I guess I'd suggest submitting it as a bug or feature request and it would likley get fixed.

O'Reilly article

To add to the discussion here, there is a new article on the O'Reilly MacDevCenter web site that compares various launchers:

Okay, so just drag it on top of Stuffit Expander. That should open and expand it.

Go into the Butler preferences, and under General select the Docklet option.

Thanks. Clearing the .qshelf file and restarting Quicksilver seemed to solve my problems.
