Thanks for posting this info. I would buy this modem in a second if I knew it solved my problems, but I am a bit concerned that it is not listed in the Time Warner approved models:

http://www.timewarnercable.com/en/re...our-modem.html

The reason I bought the Motorola is because I picked one from that list to make sure there would be no problems

Can you not rent it... I am puzzled by the purchasing part. Note that model my father has is under Voice as it is a Voice/Cable Modem/Wireless Router too. It is not that I believe it is the best one just what they choose to give him when he upgrade to faster tier of service.

I hear you...
I used to have a different modem that I rented but I thought it was stupid to pay $6/mo when you can buy a modem for $50 and it's paid off in less than a year, that's why I purchased the one I did from the list they provide...

Did the rental work better? Will still chk his extreme but im pretty sure its the defaults. Next time i visit or virtual visit.

Hello anthlover,
since the dropouts continued I just bought the Ubee DVW3201B. I will be testing it and reporting back...
Just one question. When I connected my new Airport Extreme to it I got a "Double NAT" error message saying I should set the AirPort Extreme in Bridge Mode instead of DHCP and NAT mode because the router was already handing out private IP addresses. I did do that (set it to Bridge Mode) but I wanted to ask if it is better to do that or to set the Router so that the AirPort can handle IP assignments (and if so, any idea on how to do that?)
Thanks

Yup Apple Airport knows best, bridge mode is correct when you already have a router. Hope it works well for you. Good Luck.

You should disable the wireless features on that device - so it only has Ethernet connections. There should be a way to do that in its configuration utility / web page.
If you don't disable the wireless network from the Ubee, you will have two sources of WiFi (Ubee and Airport base station) which might cause interference.

Agreed on that front too. It is usually referred to as Turning Radio off, or wifi off. I used to also resort to Antenna removal but that is getting Extreme to excuse the pun:)

I just want to report back that after a week of using this new modem I have not had one single dropout... I don't know if I am singing victory too soon but it seems that maybe the modem was the culprit, even though it was a brand new modem and one that is authorized/supported by Time Warner...

Thanks to your suggestion, anthlover, I have found a solution and a modem that actually works.

I want to thank ALL OF YOU GUYS for your incredible patience... This thread has started months ago and spans over 6 pages of the forum and your kindness and generosity with your time and your knowledge is really an incredible gift to me.

Thank you all... I am going to mark this thread as resolved and hopefully I won't have to come back here to re-open it... but I think after one week without a single dropout it's safe to say it is now working.

Thanks again ANTHLOVER for steering me in the right direction!!!

Glad its working.
