Problem with 'fink selfupdate-cvs'...

Code:

sudo /sw/bin/fink  selfupdate-cvs
Password:

I will now run the cvs command to retrieve the latest package descriptions.
The 'su' command will be used to run the cvs command as the user 'pm'. After
that, the core packages will be updated right away; you should then update
the other packages using commands like 'fink update-all'.

su pm -c 'cvs  -z3 update -d -P'

It stalls here and and uses 98% of the CPU. Then, after I killed the cvs process comes out the following message:
Code:

cvs [update aborted]: received termination signal
### execution of su failed, exit code 1
Failed: Updating using CVS failed. Check the error messages above.

I think the problem was that the cvs servers were overloaded and running very slow and were eating up as much cpu as they could while polling. I checked the fink lists and read that several people reported the same messages.

I decided to install the package 'cvs' from Fink and the problem was gone.

Thank you. I was just having that same problem myself. Your solution worked for me as well.

Sao, not only do you answer our questions of Fink and X11 when we ask them, but you also divine our problems and solve them before we even ask them.

Thanks!

Glad it worked!
