This is somewhat off thread topic, but have you considered using Gimp (or similar) instead of Photoshop to do your image conversion? if it's not .psd to .psd format it might run a lot faster, and it gets an application off your desktop.

Could work - but we are doing a lot of photoshop specific stuff in the applescripts - like "trim" selecting silo paths, etc.. I'm don't know that GIMP can control these types of things...

..resurecting an old post of mine here..has anyone got any new ideas about how to check to see if files are still being copied with a shell script? My current solution simply check the file size - then waits a second and checks it again..if the sizes are different - I'm assuming the file is still being copied.

It not the best way to do it - but it works - I'm just looking for a more elegant solution.
