Here's a version that loads much faster - though it's relevance to this thread is entirely beyond me ;)

Jacques 07-30-2003 03:21 PM

Umm, that was my fault. I saw some silly posts here so I decided to drop one myself!

..I was so blown away when I saw how dizzy that pic got me..

Imagine a wall full of it! Yeow.

OK, more topically: given you're new to macs, what apps have you found useful for web development on OS X? Personally I get by with BBEdit, Photoshop, Transmit, and SiteOrbiter.

Jacques 07-30-2003 05:19 PM

SiteOrbiter?

nkuvu 07-30-2003 05:25 PM

SiteOrbiter?

:)

Sorry, should have posted the links. It's website describes it as follows:

Get familiar with a web site quickly and easily. With the SiteOrbiter web cartography tool, you can gain insight into the structural components of a site.

SiteOrbiter is a visual reporting tool for web developers and administrators. It enables the user to:

Graphically report on broken or moved links to both local and remote web addresses
Instantly understand a web sites complexity and depth
Search across the entire sight for particular page characteristics, such as number of inbound or outbound links, find all links to a particular page or type of page, or http information.
Track changes to a site over time.
View HTTP_headers for any page on the site.
Export a comma delimited spreadsheet of the site characteristics.
Export a PDF map of the site for documentation
Scale the number of sites you can administer and manage
Download sites to the local disk
Build site reports on local or on remote sites

It's overkill for the small site that I have but I have found it useful.

well I'm saving my pennies for BBedit, but I get by with Hydra (great peice of free software) I've got golive but dont like it at all, I only use it for site wide search and replace. Transmit gets a daily bashing as does photoshop and Illustrator.

One thing i miss terribly from the pc is edit plus. Probably the best text editor in the world. :(

Also saving for flash, I just finnished http://www.nanoninja.co.uk with a 30 day trail version, and I think I'm hooked. I allways thought it would be hard to lean so never botherd before.

I'm not familiar with edit plus, but BBEdit is pretty cool. And I haven't bothered with flash either - on the basis that I thought it would be too hard to learn too. When I've got the time, perhaps I'll give it a go :)

ObiTwo 08-14-2003 10:15 AM

I'd recomend it :)

Also started to use Omnioutliner alot and Net News Wire

Jacques 08-14-2003 10:51 AM

Hydra = #####!

Hmm, this is curious.

Hydra is now called ##### (I think I spelled that right :)), check out their website now.

ObiTwo 08-14-2003 11:03 AM
