One time I accidentally dragged 400 jpg files into the dock. I was trying to drop them onto the Debabelizer icon but I guess my hand slipped and every single one got added to the dock. When there are that many items in the dock, all you see is a gray line. I tried dragging the items out of the dock, but after about ten I gave up and just deleted the dock prefs. Apple needs to add an "Are you sure?" alert for cases like that.
