I've been a member ever since Rob took flight from the MacFixit forums back in the day and brought forth this site. As you can see I don't post much and I'm not sure I've posted for a number of years. But every now and then I wander by and take a look. Howdy!

a long time...
I think I joined in 2001 or 2002. We had just made the jump to warp speed by purchasing a G4 tower to replace an old PowerMac running OS8.6. OS X was a strange new world, and a Mac IT bud suggested checking your site for tips on how to make this new-fangled UNIX-based OS work. I've been here ever since.
The G4 tower got retired just this year. It still runs, but 567 mhz doesn't buy what it used to. We found a 24" iMac on sale and made the upgrade. My Powerbook, purchased in 2004, continues to chug along with its replacement battery and upgunned 2 gigs RAM. So it's been fun. Thanks for helping me keep the Macs functional.. |
I remember when I first saw OS X. I worked at a computer store in their service department and had to fix Macs in and out of warranty. In fact, I was not even a Mac person or user as I did not like the classic OS at all, but since our "mac guy" quit my boss made all of us learn Mac so there was never a "mac guy" anymore as we were all able to work on them.
I remember the nice Open GL dock, and was like well it looks pretty. When about 10.2 came out I started really getting into the Unix side of Mac. I was a lurker here, but ultimately joined. I have learned so much in the past 10 years working with Macs and this forum has definitely help a lot. |

I'd love to see a Google Analytics of this particular site. I wonder where we get the most hits from...

My money would be on CONUS. Probably by a high %, too.

All of that being said, I may be entirely wrong. That's why I'd love to see a Google Analytics of this site :). Maybe some happy moderator will fullfil my request... ??? PS -- Just a quick example from Asahi Shimbun. It's somewhat readable, but the structure of Japanese sentences makes it really hard for a computer to get a proper translation to English. At least at the moment... (I somehow imagine that will change.) |
