Quicken 2009 for Mac - OL-249 error

Hello,

just as info, see this site if you get this type of error when reconciling a bank account

https://quicken.custhelp.com/cgi-bin...p?p_faqid=7368

Quicken started behaving with this error last night
and I only found this recent solution this morning

if this may help others

Bye

I've tried both solutions, and no luck with either. I keep getting the OL-249 error.

Quicken 2007, 10.5.7, PPC, trying to download from Citibank.

Any one else?

Here's the solution

This is my second post, I'm posting it before my first has been approved just so you know.

The solution to downloading from citibank is after you run quicken's patch, go to citibank and download a Quicken Web Connect QFX File. I use "direct connect" so there is no "Import" button. But the download must reconnect quicken to the bank.

Actually I believe the OL-249 error message mentioned something about the next time you connect to the bank, I just didn't do it because that was not how I downloaded tranactions.

I'm having the same trouble, too

And although I've followed all of Quicken's directions on how to update the certificate, I am still getting the error message.

I'm a Chase customer, so the Citibank info mentioned here does not apply.

Does anyone have any other insight?

Many thanks.

Same problem here

And it just started two days ago. I was fine until yesterday when my Vanguard accounts went out now they are ALL out. This is EXTREMELY frustrating and potentially devastating as I use electronic banking through Quicken exclusively. Need an answer and soon....

I think They have updated their updater
see
https://quicken.custhelp.com/cgi-bin...p?p_faqid=7368

I got an emsil telling me to do it again with the new updater

Have you tried the last link I posted

It did resolve the problem for me

Hope it does for you as well

Quicken error message OL-249

thanks for the link Gilles9, it totally worked.

rdlsmith 09-13-2009 12:44 AM

I was so frustrated I started looking at iBank and MoneyDance. Promising but too many issues.

Anyway, the post by Gilles9 above worked like a charm for me.

Gilles9, thanks for taking the time to post this. It saved me a lot of time debugging the ubiquitous Quicken OL-249 error.

bobotron 09-14-2009 09:17 AM

This worked for me.

Downloading the patch from Quicken worked for me.

I am connecting to Chase using Quicken 2007 and a MacbookPro running 10.5.8, and I started getting the OL-249 error a few days ago.

Another vote of thanks to Giles9. Solved my Chase issue as well. Why would they not make this update appear when the user invokes the "Check for Updates" menu item I cannot fathom.

Here's an interesting wrinkle: The Quicken Certificate Updater would not fix the error my main computer, a Mac Pro. I kept getting the error. It did, however, work fine on my MacBook Pro and Mac Mini.

Since the Quicken files I always use are on the Mac Pro, I copied the file to the laptop, opened the file, downloaded transactions, and quit Quicken. I then copied the file back to the Mac Pro and it worked like a charm.

Too many hoops to have to jump through Quicken!

Have you downloaded the second link I provided
I had to guess the first link updated was reviewed

as I kept on having problems

It never came back after using the file from this link
https://quicken.custhelp.com/cgi-bin...p?p_faqid=7368

Hope this helps

Yes, I used the latest link. I even tried the manual method Quicken recommended.

Thought the workaround might help anyone else... and it seems, once done, there are no further issues.

Thanks for the update though!

Well, I guess I spoke too soon. Still getting the OL-249 error on the Cac Pro. Ran the Updater again from Gilles9's latest post. Could it be something specific to this machine?

It's a MacPro, 2 x 2.66 Dual Core Intel, 5 GB RAM, System 10.5.8

Any ideas?

Mac Pro OL-249

Yes, I have the exact same problem on my Intel Mac Pro with Quicken 2006.
Everything was fine until I tried my regular Quicken update on Sunday.
I rebooted and tried again on Monday, but the same problem. I'll try the posted update tonight when I get home.
Mark.

It's back. Earlier this week I tried the fix described earlier and it worked for a few days. This morning (9/18) I'm getting the OL-249 error again. iMac 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo and Quicken 2006. Anyone else?

Gilles9 09-19-2009 06:19 AM

When I opened Quicken 2007, I get an Update message
which brings me to a website (I did not keep it), and now, once installed, it shows R3
this is Quicken 2007
Can't say for the others versions

Boot Intuit!

To all Quicken Users... this message is due to Inuit being greedy bastards! The software is designed to kill it self after a couple years of running... They refer to it as 'sun setting' but really it's just a way to squeeze money from their clients! Very underhanded method of running a business in my opinion! If you purchase a software, you should be able to use it when you want and not have to 'rent' it for 2 years

Here's another dirty secrete... QFX can be downloaded from many different Institutions but did you know Intuit charges a huge fee so you can use it? The Bank has to pay the money even though you downloaded the QFX from the Bank servers and not Intuits!! Some Banks say 'to hell with Intuit' and do not pay since they charge fees for both Windows and Mac users... and we all know there's less of us Mac users and Windows but Intuit charges the banks the SAME prices for both Windows and Mac...not very logical but then greed never is!

Sorry for my rant...justed wanted this practice known... if you want a free (and better) alternative... check out www.yodlee.com .... I've been using them for almost 10 years and have never had any issues with them!!

66ragger 09-25-2009 05:11 PM

you can download 2 possible fixes from the Quicken site as described above. I had to do the manual fix but it worked like a champ
https://quicken.custhelp.com/cgi-bin...p?p_faqid=7368

You can download the new security cert from this site and manually install it without welder and torch

monay 09-26-2009 02:35 AM
