Hey Guys,

I'm trying to instal 10.4.1 on my G4 iMac that I reformatted to factory settings, 10.1.4. When i restart the computer with the 10.4.1 disc, the computer starts up, the grey screen with the white apple appears and then i receive a Kernal Panic warning. I hold down the power button and restart holding the mouse button in order to eject the disc. It starts back up in 10.1.4.

I found a upgrade to 10.1.5 and that was installed successfully. So right now Im using OS X 10.1.5 and i received the same error when trying to start back up with the 10.4.1 disc.

Any Suggestions? I read some articles here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1392 but need some further assistance.

Memory: 256 MB iMac G4

Have you checked that this iMac meets the requirements for 10.4 ?
Where did you get this 10.4.1 Install DVD from? Is it a retail version of the DVD?

Thanks for your help, a couple other forums answered for me with you response, I don't have the retail version, I think I was trying to use the one that came with my macbook pro
