Yahoo IM

When I try to sign-in I just get a spinning graphic. Seems to connect ok and I can send/receive but can't see contact list.

what Mac...
what IM client? (including version number)
has this worked previously and suddenly stopped?

as much info as poss.

Mac is alu Imac, runninglatest Leopard.
IM is Yahoo's beta3.
Ran for a day before this.
Junked and reinstalled - now seems fine again.
I'd like to know likely cause, though.
