Hello everyone,
I wish I knew what I was doing but I hope some of you guys could help, since I'm not so good at things like this .
I was looking through my firewall log to see what was going on, and I have a question about how to read the log. There's several messages that begin with "host" folllowed by the same set of numbers. For example, one says:
Sep 5 01:16:30 host-xx-xx-xxx-xxx kernel[0]: ipfw: 5001 Deny ICMP:8.0 xxx.xxx.xxx.90 xxx.xxx.xx.xx in via en0
Where it says "host" what is the number after that? It has dashes, but is it an IP number? If it is an IP number, then I'm really confused because it's not mine.
I"m trying to learn this unix stuff, and I'm having some difficulties (obviously :) ) Any ideas? Thanks for your help!!
