View Full Version : Edit Dock for All Users

I am using OS X 10.5.2 in a multi-user environment (100+ students). Is it possible to edit the dock for all users? I would like to add an icon that is not there by default.

Do the users have local accounts, or network accounts?
Are you trying to edit the Dock for those who create new user accounts after the edit, or for a whole lot of existing accounts?

The users log in using their active directory accounts so they do not have local accounts yet. I'm trying to edit the dock for new users that log into the machine for the first time (like a default profile or "All Users" Desktop folder on a Windows machine).

OK. If this had been only newly-created local users, then you could edit /System/Library/User Template/English.lproj/ to meet your needs. But with Active Directory in the mix, you'll have to get help from someone who is familiar with it, I'm not sure of how that will work with AD.
