Question on saving Jpg.'s in IE 5.1

I just installed OSX and Internet explorer 5.1 and have a question, Normally in OS9 running Internet explorer, when you download an Image to Disk, the thumbnail of the image shows the picture. I have a bunch of pics that I saved to disk using os9 a while back. and when I installed osx, instead of showing thumbnailed images, all the thumbnails have the same little jpeg Icon. This makes it annoying to find one of my pictures if they all look the same. how do I fix this?

This may sound silly, but I believe you may find your options to be limited. There are a few thumbnail creation programs on versiontracker, one of which may work for your problem.

A simple option is to use column view when looking at the directory with all your jpegs. You still won't see the custom thumbnail, but the final column on the right should show you the preview as you select files, or use you arrow keys to run down the list.

(I think this is a problem with IE, not os X? Other apps (priview for example) create thumbnails.)

Graphic Converter in the Convert... menu has an "Icon/Preview" rebuild option. You can select a bunch of files and recreate the icon.

there's also ImageViewer 6.x which will let you wholesale create and destroy image previews and icons. useful for making your images web and disk friendly.

it's odd that your icons didn't turn the corner. i'd be a little upset if resource forks were stomped on by installing OSX.

i wonder if there's not some other explanation? anybody else lose image previews and/or icons installing OSX?

It's an option under the "File" menu.

I guess I am blind, I am not finding a graphic converter or convert or icon preview anywhere in the file menu of the finder or preview, What am I missing here??

GraphicConverter is a shareware program you can download from versiontracker.com. It is available in an X version or in a classic version and is an exceptional program that is highly rated and been around for many years. Here's the link for the X version:

The Convert... menu is under the File menu of the main menu when GraphicConverter is launched.
